That's right, I stopped reading the series about 10 or more years ago so I don't regret that decision. Still the shows are part of the books I have read - if the show catches up to where I've not read up to, then I'll start reading again, but I imagine that'll take a few years.

Thank God they didn't draw out that tournament, though I must admit I missed what really went on first time round. I loved the conversation between Lord Stark and the Queen. Arya is nice, in the book I already liked her, but in the series she's being played by a real talented girl. I feel they give Jaime a bit less screentime than his role in the events warrants, but I also like how perfectly that role was casted.
    Congratulations America

They also changed it so that Littlefinger told Sansa the story behind the Hound's face instead of the Hound himself.

And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

Bah. I wanted to see the Hound and the Mountain in each others face.

If there's 10 episodes a season and each season is a book then he has about five years or so to finish the last book in the series. That's assuming they don't break this next book into two books. Think he'll make it?

Hopefully. Is it more likely they'd postpone the last season, or just start making stuff up if he doesn't?

The new book is about to come out. Should hit the shelves by the time the series ends.
    Congratulations America

Woohoo I was wrong. I didn't see any tournament scenes in the previews so I figured they would have ended it.

Also - wow I can't believe HBO did the breast feeding scene... ewww. Other then that it was pretty epic episode. Interesting changes they made involving Ned/Jaime confrontation. I can see why they did it.

I couldn't remember the details of that fight, and I can't fight the book right now, but wasn't that where ICE was broken?

I find it interesting that where it's merely implied in the books the series made Renly homosexual.
    Congratulations America

Not to mention the Knight of Flowers. And no, Ice was never broken.

Ice got melted and was forged into two new blades if I recall correctly.

The fight was *very* different. Ned and Jaime never crossed blades. And if I recall correctly Ned's horse fell on him and broke his leg.

Book 1 doesn't make Renly / Loras clear but book 2 makes it obvious. However the whole bit about Loras seducing Renly into making a bid for kingship is just a HBO addition.

I love how close they stay to the books and even manage to improve by changing little details like that trial by the sword.
    Congratulations America

This has reminded me of just how irritating i found cersei and cat in the books, not to mention their idiot husbands. Why the hell couldn't they just get their shit together??

Good episode, in no small part due to the anticipation. Unusually low boob content

I am going to be disappointed when this series ends, it is good.

I know their child actors are brilliant, let alone the story itself is intriguing. I really like the actors in general.

Tyrion's wit doesn't seem to be there, in the same form. It's more knowledge, and sound thinking than word play, and general cleverness.

Well we would then have a pretty short typical fantasy story then...

I don't know if this counts as a spoiler, but there will be lots of boobs in episode 7 and some lesbianish sex.
    Congratulations America

I can't believe the season is almost over. Gah. Then a 42 week wait? Thats going to suck. I'm going to be real interested in how they portray the Red Lady, the adviser to Stannis.

This show is awesome. Sad that there's only two episodes left in the season.

Also, breast feeding kid is creepy.

It keeps getting better and better. Last ep was the most pornographic yet. "Play with her arse" is probably one of the best exclamations I've ever encountered in any series this is not a show you want to see with family or with prim SOs I guess. Drogo's rant was fucking amazing, that guy really knows how to play a barbarian. Shame he's going to be so polished and civilised as Conan

Will be seeing latest ep shortly, most curious as to what orifice they'll explore in this one.

His hand got burned. He reacted pretty clearly to the heat when he grabbed the lantern, and the next scene with him showed the hand all bandaged up.

What they didn't show was boobies, but they made up for it with dick. HBO, HBO...

By the way, the other day I read a snippet that suggested that Jon Snow has real Stark blood, but is not really a son of Eddard Stark. That would leave only the option of his mother being the sister of Eddard wouldn't it? And a good chance of a Targaryen father.
    Congratulations America

Well possible spoilers here... (though its not confirmed fact there are a lot of clues).

Jon is probably the son of Lyana Stark and Rhegar (sp?) Targeyan. In book 1 Ned has a dream where he remembers fighting three of the kingsguard at the tower of joy. Why the hell would three of the kingsguard be guarding Lyana Stark? And not just any three kingsguard but their commander and Ser Auther Dayne. Makes no sense unless she was pregnant with Rheager's child.

That would make Jon a potential king? His bastard status being to keep him safe? But what about the burns then? It would explain though why he was not allowed to attend at the banquet.
    Congratulations America
