    Ummm. Ish.

It's more intra-city transit than inter-city transit - you work within one city per game.

So instead of ferrying peeps from city to city, you ferry them around one city.

It's good. It's fairly limited in what it will allow you to do - can't build or destroy roads or buildings for instance. Can lay tracks and stations, and that's about it.

Trams, buses, metro (above and below ground), water buses, and helicopters are the sum total of your transport options. A monorail is available by DLC.

But I've been at it for days and days now, and I'm loving it. It's polished and flows nicely. I like.

The 3DS is going down to $169.99 on August 12th. That is an insane price drop for a system so new. I know its had a slow launch, but I've been blown away with mine so far. I'm taking this as a direct attack on the Vita's $250 price tag, an early hit with a price like this and they are likely to build a base so large the Vita won't end up doing any better than the PSP.

But this is Nintendo, so they aren't going to abandon the early adopters completely. We are getting 20 free virtual console games, half of which have no current plans to go out to the general public. Not a bad trade for paying an $80 premium.

If you're really slimy, you can buy a 3DS a day or so before the 12th, at say, a place like BestBuy, activate it and download the eshop to get your free games, then go back into Best Buy to get a price match.

Hehe I'm so glad my daughter wanted an iPod touch for her birthday and not a 3ds. She oscillated between the two for quite awhile.

I'm pretty sure she'll ask for one for Christmas.

Steam just announced From Dust preorders on Facebook, and got bombed with nothing but Ubisoft DRM complaints.

Diablo III is going to require an always on connection Which is not only going to kill the LAN aspect that made D2 so much fun with friends, but it puts all the cards in Blizzard's hands for how the game is alowed to be used. So no more mods, trainers, cheats, or playing how you want. Just like they locked down Starcraft II. This move is going to require forcing players into RealID and battle.net because battle.net is just so much fun with D2, what with all the spam and all.

They don't really have a choice, considering their decision to try and take over the third-party market for in-game items. Mind you I think their decision to create a game auction house that will accept real currency is lunacy and I'm desperately wishing that it will crash and burn and so not end up making it's way into WoW, but given that they are moving ahead they pretty much NEED to be able to constantly and intrusively monitor anything done with the game.

How are they going to prevent money laundering with this system?
Hope is the denial of reality

The idea of money laundering through Diablo 3 in-game sales amuses me.

Anyone who makes a lot of money through the game would probably throw up tons of red flags in the government though, so I doubt it's a good way to launder any substantial amount of money.

Best part is that they take money at three separate places:
    a) First there's a listing fee - you have to pay money for your item to be listed, regardless whether it sells or not
    b) Then there's the transaction fee, which you incur upon a successful sale of an item
    c) An additional transaction fee if you want to get real money you made from your auctions

Not to mention that 3rd party companies you're transferring the money to may also take another cut...

Plus, there are much easier, more efficient ways of money laundering electronically. The poker site avenue might be closed to the US market, but there's always BitCoin for the technically illiterate. (For the technically literate, set up a pay site. It'll blend into the millions of other porn sites, and won't raise eyebrows if it makes a good chunk of money.) You might cause some serious market distortions if you're trying to move big money amounts through the BitCoin exchanges in a short time span, but it can't be worse than suddenly trying to run several grand through Diablo 3. Plus, BitCoin's anonymous and not necessarily connected to your IP like a DRM-infested game would be.

GTA San Andreas has been ported over to the RAGE engine

warning, this is not the ID Tech 5 engine that the game Rage is being programmed on.

Just picked up as a bargain and started The Witcher: Extended Edition. Enjoying it so far though still very early, love the idea of trying to out-drink an NPC to be the first under the table. Not sure if there's meant to be any skill involved in that mini-game.

Still playing Guildwars, character is ~20 months old now, and I only recently discovered I can give myself a leg up by praying at the temples outside of the outposts

But this... this is going to be 2012's game of the year. WITHOUT. A. DOUBT.

The Witcher keeps crashing. Looked online and it seems a lot of people saying it regularly crashed.

Got Enhanced Edition and it appears there's no further patches for it.

  19. #1369
I believe Enhanced Edition shipped with the 1.4 mega patch. Man you should have tried to play it before that massive patch

    There is a 1.5 patch.

    Played a few hours yesterday.

    It's rather ... peculiar.

Amusing enough to keep me going for now. Don't think there's much in the way of longevity, given from what I can see of the number of levels available.

  21. #1371
What system you playing on? I've heard nothing but horror stories from the PC guys. Its so bad Steam is offering refunds, which is extremely rare for them.

    Bad in what way?

My system is old - Q6600 Quad thingy, GTX8800, Win vista, 4GB RAM

It crashed to desktop when I very first ran it. Not a single problem since.

And I've just finished it. Much too short. Took me about 5-6 hours total.

Nice idea - but now that they have the engine, they need to create another hundred or so maps. 10 or 12 really doesn't cut it.

  23. #1373
That its a terrible console port, no display options beyond resolution, no control over music volume, and the bait and switch on the DRM stance between when pre-orders went live and the game became available.

No one seems to having problems with the concept, just that Ubisoft once again screwed over the PC crowd.

    Just finished Portal 2.

    Genius. Laughed throughout.

Use of Stephen Merchant's voice was fabulous. It seems so weird having a Bristolian West-Country accent on a slightly-deranged and ultimately megalomaniacal AI mind.

Just started playing Mafia II and I love the look and atmosphere of the game, its purdy and appears to capture the era nicely... haven't played enough yet to judge anything else about it though...

If you plan on picking up Deus Ex, I would suggest not doing so at Gamestop. They are opening every PC copy and removing the inserts because they include a free game coupon to OnLive.

I've always been more of a RTS gamer myself, so at the moment Darkest Hour: A hearts of Iron game. I'd say it's the best grand strategy game I've seen. There's no tactical aspect but it's really great for what it is.

HoI, nice... one of the better Paradox franchises. But man, talk about a learning curve... I always have to have the manual or a cheat sheet up on my 2nd monitor while playing.

Gamestop is bragging about this now on their Facebook page, and its the top story on Reddit. Can't help but question which gave Onlive more publicity, the coupons, or telling 2.7+ million facebook fans what they are doing.
