Default Haikus, Live From Socialist Europe

    The trains run quite well
And the beer is also cheap
    No one has a job.

    Then who runs the trains
And sells you the cheap beer
    If nobody has a job

    Not six, but then I wiki'ed;
    I see other kinds!

(Also very interesting to see all the variations of modern haiku, Japanese and English-speaking types!)

    The Secret
    Behind Haikus
    Thus giving up

When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

I thought you were in the German areas, aren't you? I assumed it was impossible. I'm currently doing work in a French canton, but I leave tomorrow.

Oh well then It's about two hours from over there, so probably a bit too far for just a beer or two. Have a nice stay in the most socialist part of the country.

That's some impressive maths you've got going on there, considering that it ranges from 8% to 27%.

In which part of the universe is 27 more than 73? Maybe in the brain-damaged parts?

Well, with math skills like that on display, it's really no wonder why he paid too much.

Repairman: "So, here, you see, that's 20€ for the parts, 50€ for the work and 10€ for the polish. That makes ... 500€ total!"
    Dread: "Why so much?"
    Repairman: "Taxes!"

Actually I used "mostly" primarily because it fit within the haiku structure.

However, because VAT taxes every level of production (and each level of subsequently more valuable and costs more, offsetting VAT refunds), some of the underlying cost of a final-sale product includes some level of taxation. So, while you may brush off a 12% or 23(!)% VAT, a larger portion of the good is also being taxed. This is part of why VAT taxes are so perfidious and harmful, especially to the poor.

This pretty obvious point may not be clear to someone whose common sense has been dulled into submission by generations of big government fiscal abuse, and instead chooses to constantly lash out. IE, you.

Companies get back the VAT on the parts and services they buy, you don't get double taxed.
