    Default Short Stories

I've recently gotten into short stories. Since we have a book page, I believe it should be beneficial to have a short story one. Anyways, post the links/names of any stories you read/enjoyed reading. Here are some of the ones I read this week.

In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Does one-shot mangas count? They only take an hour to read, and this one is the most touching short story I've read.

Tomorrow is like an empty canvas that extends endlessly, what should I sketch on it?

I would say fuck yeah, but who knows. Some conceited dumbass will claim that is not a short story since it doesn't conform to the bourgeoisie ideals he's been beaten bloody with.

Not sure if you're being sarcastic, but I had a ridiculous argument on Facebook a while back about this: http://artdaily.org/index.asp?int_se...5#.T_Mf7vW_N5Y Joan Miro's pretty much one of the most famous surrealist artists in the 20th century, AND he's been dead for more than 20 years SO he could have ejaculated onto a canvas and it would sell for millions. Now, I don't particularly like the painting either; I probably drew something similar at the tender age of six. However, it was the ulterior motive (subvert Bourgeois standards of beauty and sophistication) was what made it appealing.

Unless a drawing or writing is objectively God-awful, I generally make it a point to at least defame it if I dislike it/don't necessarily agree.

I like most of James Schmitz stories, particularly the psi stories for Telzey or the four Agent of Vega ones. But not Greenface. I've always hated Greenface and that general genre of horror-scifi.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"
