    Because it doesn't matter.

I think the statement is true for sexual attraction as such, not so much for sexual activity; there I see profound differences between Dutch and Turkish society that make me think that nurture has a very big role in what one actually does.

Sexual orientation is 3 parts genetics and 1 part early life (infant shit) experience thingies <insert scientific term which I forgot at the moment because WE SHOULD HAVE WON GOLD FUUUCK! > which at that stage of life you have no control over.

Not pure genetics, and sure as hell not a choice.

I think you're looking for the word nurture. And yes, fuck.

Something like that. But that sounds as if I'm laying the responsibility at the parents.

Scientifically speaking: Shit just happens, diversity is cool and lets not make a big deal about it.

I'm thinking here specifically of the range of behavior and responses we've seen as a result of the growing acceptance of reassignment surgery. All the examples are outliers, of course.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

I'm affraid I don't quite understand, how does gender identity relate to sexuality as discussed in this topic?
    Congratulations America

    Sinner.
    The Rules
Copper- behave toward others to elicit treatment you would like (the manipulative rule)
Gold- treat others how you would like them to treat you (the self regard rule)
Platinum - treat others the way they would like to be treated (the PC rule)

You either like having sex/the idea of having sex with the same gender or you don't. You'd be gay in this instance. If you like having sex/the idea of having sex with the opposite gender then you're straight. If you like both these things, then you're bi. If you like none of them, then you're asexual. This should pretty much cover the basics, I'm not understanding what is so hard about this to understand.

My point is that homosexual couples do not deserve sympathy because it is more difficult for them to adopt children than it is for a heterosexual couple. Single people have similar hurtles to adopting and I feel no sympathy for them either.
Not "sympathy", but the same legal rights as anyone else. Singles and gays make perfectly fine parents, adoptees need good homes, making obstacles or hurdles is counter-productive to the best interest of kids who need a home. /drift
