The first one looks kinda cool. Glad it succeeded in it's funding, might pick one up after they manage to get the price to come down.

If you're going to do more of these, maybe a few words on what each link leads to?

This is a neat thread idea.

One thing I've been intrigued by is the endless succession of slim wallet ideas on these sites. Mostly because I find them so damn tempting, even though their ideas aren't that unique. One I keep going back to:

you have a serious fetish concerning wallets. All the way back to worrying about how to keep yours clean of poop particles.

    i picked up this one...

    http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...ter?ref=search couldn't beat the price
Other growers in my industry are still up in the $20K's
the small difference in resolution does not equal the difference in price.
some are claiming better detail on the B9 than the Form1. Big thing for me is that the Form1 doesn't have castable resin.

Heh, I remember that convo. Not quite my obsession. I was the one debating whether wallets had poop particles (as labeled by Timbuk?) if they were kept in the front pocket vs. back. I think it was Timbuk who brought up the whole subject. I've used the same wallet since the mid 1990s. And never washed it. Though I wouldn't mind washing it now that I write that.

Yet I am intrigued at the minimalism of these wallet ideas.

Meanwhile, Kickstarter might be a good place to get a quasi-porn funded?

There are quite a number of slim wallets on Amazon for sale. I've got a leather wallet which is also my iPhone5 case and the whole thing carries my phone, cards, driving licence, loyalty cards and some cash and is roughly about an inch thick.

At some point how do we evaluate what things are just total bullshit? Not that thing specifically, but I do worry that people's ability to evaluate credibility/feasibility is too limited for some of these ideas.

assisted bikes have been around for a good while.

There is the flykly, the coperhagen, entire forums for these things

Daughter has an electric scooter that isn't much wider than a bike frame, thing goes 10mph for more than an hour, and thats on whatever tech walmart black friday will get you. I'm sure they figured out a few space saving ideas with a $500 design.

I'm annoyed by the petzval lens remake. Well not the remake itself, but the sales language and marketing speak they used.
    . . .

I didn't click that one but now that I have...ugh. Basically a lens with deliberately poor depth of field.

    Kraftwerk - a lighter-gas-powered portable fuel cell:

    https://www.kickstarter.com/projects...e-power-plant/

Extremely annoying video but kinda compelling idea. I know several people who'd love this and I think even I might have some use for it. Not too keen on the size but the design is nice.

No way anyone will be able to bring that on a plane.

They say they have permits and I'm honestly more worried about my seatsnoozer

Lighters are not permitted on planes so I see no reason why this would be

    Because it's not a lighter, it's a fuel cell.

Can I bring kraftwerk on an airplane?

Yes, kraftwerk is designed and tested according to international regulation for carriage in an aircraft cabin (empty and fueled). This will be clearly marked on the device.
However it's weird-looking so I don't expect someone with my name and appearance will be allowed to take one on board

    Bard's Tale IV

Goddamnit, I've been so good. It's been almost a year since I kickstarted or preordered anything. But today I fell off the wagon. Fucking Bard's Tale.

Geeze, I still remember the Skara Brae map - took me a beastly while until my party was strong enough to escape Rakhir street and venture unto Main.
When the stars threw down their spears

Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

Should be possible to make something similar at home for other phones I reckon.

That's not actually the worst idea. Especially for New Yorkers who seem to stuff Subway cars on their phones oblivious to their chances of being robbed each time the doors open/close.
