Incredible rally. Will Erdogan rig the election?

The question isn't whether he will, it's how blatant he's willing to do it.

A big CHP rally in İzmir says nothing about the way the elections will go.
    Congratulations America

Erdogan claiming victory. The opposition claiming the votes were rigged.

    Not much surprise there then.

The elections were probably not rigged. They also were not fair.
    Congratulations America

I'm not convinced there was no rigging on the margin. A few percent wouldn't be hard to pull off and has been done recently in Istanbul.

A few percent can make all the difference here as well with the 50% threshold.

The BBC was reporting earlier that the official Turkish media and the independent counts were showing quite different figures at one stage.

The official count seemed to have gotten a lot of data before it was even reported. But the vote tallies do seem to be converging.

    Ah that makes sense.

Yes. Incredible, but he won. His supporters were celebrating loudly. It was sort of smart to have elections now and it will have helped that every move of the president is covered on all the channels where the opposition leaders get little to no mention.
    Congratulations America

Only a matter of time before a severe economic crisis. Let's see how loyal his supporters are then.

If only every European nation was led by a dictator who would increase military expenditure rather than having Parliamentary democracies ... what could possibly go wrong there?

Looks like the voters of Istanbul aren't ready to get off the democracy bus quite yet

What really happens is rinse and repeat. Jurisprudence from the ECHR doesn't seem to stick in all courts.
