Of course, if the fault is somewhere else, this will not work, but it is worth a shot, I think.
Yeah, that's what I thought as well. Didn't find any telltale signs for failed capacitors, though, so I had to replace it entirely.

Then again, it was time for an upgrade anyway but I had wanted to wait for the new generation of Intel CPUs. But going from an i5-2500K to an i5-4590 isn't bad either.

According to him it's one of the most common ways electronics fail so it's definitely worth a try!
Nice! But the innards of a PSU are something I myself would only touch if I really knew what I was doing. Because they can be literally lethal if you're doing it wrong.

Yeah I wouldn't do that either Messing with the motherboard is one thing, it's already broken anyway so not much harm you can do.

Well, it's connected to quite a lot of non-expensive stuff which isn't broken yet so there actually is quite a bit of possible harm

What's really creepy is that a regular poster at a politics blog I frequent is in the hotel, hiding from the gunmen asking for advice as to when it is safe to come out. Scary.

The guy on the blog survived thankfully along with his family but a number of Brits and other nationalities did die there. He said they're getting evacuated out of the country tonight with an armed escort.

How crap was the security there when two people can do this much damage? It's not like this specific target was even a surprise.

One man with a gun can always do a lot of damage.

These kind of resorts usually have pretty tight security. It's not one man with a gun; it's two men with AKs.

So, there it is, people refusing vaccines are now responsible for someone else's death.

yeah, luckily it was part of a glow necklaces, so its not as much liquid as an actual stick, but still. the drops are everywhere. it doesn't seem to last to long on their skin at least.

You might want to be careful with that, chemicals in glow sticks can be unhealthy I think.

It's hot here, for days now, and I'm ill so that's not ideal. And now I can see on teevee that the Tour, which is in my country, has loads of rain.. but still hot and dry here.

There is the possibility of skin irritation, at least according to Wikipedia, and so far everyone survived.

CNN has videos that automatically start playing when you read their articles, with an ad first naturally. If you click the pause button to stop them, it takes you out of the article and into a larger version of the video. This pisses me off.

That is really annoying, as I also experienced that they start in the background. They could at least do it like in Facebook where the videos start when you see them (and without sound).

Amazon's Prime Day that they have been advertising for all over the fucking place is a god damn mess. It feels like a garage sale to clear out an old warehouse they had forgotten about. There is no organization, items pop up and disappear without a countdown, and the site has become incredibly slow. I'm assuming from all the people trying to use that silly sliding bar to go through 200+ pages of "deals"

Well, I got a FireTV stick for my mother because her TV is a "dumb" one and she wants to access to the ARD and ZDF Mediathek so she can watch series, movies and documentaries she missed. Since she's a Prime member as well she now got access to a whole slew of other movies and series which is a nice side effect.

Other than that, though: Yeah, not such great deals.

Their "doorbusters" that wouldn't even load for most people seems to have done more harm than good. 32" and 40" TVs for $75 and $115 that didn't have a countdown and soldout in seconds... I would have suggested a raffle system, but Amazons waitlist popups are already broken enough.

I did manage to pick up FarCry 4 for $15 which I think is a historic low, to bad its uplay

If you bought Journey digitally on PS3, you get a free copy for the PS4. If you shelled out extra for the collector's edition on disc, you're fucked.

Is there some reason that 50 gazillion and twelve windows updates couldn't be compressed into one massive this is going to take several hours but you don't have to keep checking for updates then clicking update and restart?

Alternately, why can't I click to download and install Windows 8.1 and then have it handle all of the 50 gazillion and twelve updates.

Had to try the refresh on the boy's laptop, I have been watching updates install themselves for hours now.

Strange, did a refresh recently myself and there was indeed one massive update which only took 30 minutes, though. The latter might have been due to an SSD, though.

Well it eventually went to the point of "failure configuring windows updates, reverting changes, do not turn off your computer" - I started another refresh awhile ago, want to get his files backed up before I just do a clean install.

The people that burn of fireworks in the middle of the night.

I like fireworks actually, but why burn them down at 2 am?
