    Default Webcomics

Always on the lookout for more ways to waste time at work, I figure it's about time we had a webcomic thread so we can share/discuss our time-wasters.

I'll start with a couple I like. First up is Gunnerkrigg Court:

    Gunnerkrigg Court Sample:

It's not really a comedy comic, although it's sometimes funny, more of a linear fantasy drama about a girl who goes to a really weird school situated next to a forest run by a trickster god, which everybody treats as a totally normal thing. The mythology is interesting, and draws on a lot of different world mythologies with a dash of steampunk and magitech thrown in for good measure. It's actually very good.

The art style evolves rapidly, and the story is great, so don't get turned off by the early pages.

    Mon/Wed/Fri update schedule.

    ------------------------

Another one I like is Paranatural.

    Paranatural Sample:

It's also a linear fantasy, but funnier than Gunnerkrigg. Typically tries to ensure at least a joke a page. It follows a bunch of very sarcastic kids dealing with ghost-stuff. The art is fantastic and the mythology is interesting enough to hold my interest, at least. Updates Tuesdays and Fridays with frequent delays. There's alt-text on each page, so check that too.

My list will be somewhat longer. I won't comment all of them, though.

    NSFW:
http://www.deadheaven.net/current.html - quite beautiful drawings, story is a bit disturbing, though
    http://www.findchaos.com/
http://falsepositivecomic.com/ - Twilight Zone in comic form
    http://oglaf.com/ - oh well...

    Sometimes NSFW:

http://avasdemon.com/ - that one is definitely beautiful. The end of chapter videos are nicely done, too
    http://runfreakrun.com/
http://www.kiwisbybeat.com/ - this one is just weird. Has several concluded story lines as well, in addition to the current ones. "Minus" would be my favourite
http://www.casualvillain.com/Unsounded/comic+index - be prepared to read a lot of text.

www.wondermark.com - impressive art, next to no story whatsoever (a few jokes that require context from an earlier comic), lovely punchlines. First comic to come to my mind, so that's worth something, right?
www.threewordphrase.com - can be somewhat primitive and crude at times, but makes me laugh out loud every now and then.
http://basicinstructions.net - fairly sophisticated and nigh-excellent humor, if you don't have extremely high standards. Quite good humor, if you do.
http://www.asofterworld.com - Kinda deep. Kinda emo. Kinda strange. Worth taking a look at. You'll love it, if that's your thing, and will most likely be totally indifferent, if it's not. The third panel typically turns it around 180°, and the mouse-over text turns it around another 180°, though usually around another axis.
http://www.smbc-comics.com/ - Lovely. Science-y. Often feels like sort of a simplified version of XKCD. Wait, nobody's mentioned that one? Ok then...
http://xkcd.com/ - More often than not science related. An absolute must-see for mathematicians, physicists, programmers and that sort of folk, though I believe most of them already have.
http://phdcomics.com/ - PhD stands for "piled higher and deeper". Pretty much says all you need to know about the comic.

These were the first few I thought worthy of mention, so... Enjoy, hopefully, and enough for now.
