Thread: Really?

    Default Really?

I actually don't have an issue with banning all forms of advertisement on the bus... I do have an issue that the major concern was an ad that plainly stated what Hamas does. Why do liberals hate Israel so much?

The group that wants to put up these ads is a known anti-Muslim hate group. Would you be ok with an ad by the KKK pointing out crimes committed by African Americans?
Hope is the denial of reality

Didn't realize Hamas represented every Muslim everywhere. Hamas is a terrorist organization. Similar in several ways to Al Qaeda. Defending Hamas is disgusting - they are a terrorist organization, pointing this out is a public service.

Do you think private companies have a right to decide if they want to display political speech or not?

No-one in that link is defending Hamas, the concerns raised have nothing to do with defending Hamas - they're about protecting their own staff and customers from potential violence.

Again no issue with banning all forms of advertisement on the bus just questioning the stupidity of the reasons behind it. And what violence?

Cool, so no more campaign ads either?

Only downside is that people in the US think science is politics

Kinda irrelevant, since the Metropolitan Transit Authority isn't a private company. It's publicly funded and run by government appointees.

Campaign ads are free speech. If a television station voluntarily chose not to do ads that would be perfectly acceptable. The government shouldn't be able to restrict the rights of free speech (and political speech to boot) during an election or any time.

Yet, you have no qualms with government "banning" advertisements on buses.

    .....

The government isn't banning advertisement on all buses.

Well, who the hell is banning these advertisements you're complaining about?

Read the article the MTA. Television stations are privately owned, not government entities. Banning advertisement on a bus station you run is vastly different than banning everything over TV.
