Default Feature request: YouTube and HTML5

Could we maybe switch over to YouTube's "new" way of embedding content? Because the old way is a) deprecated and b) relies on Flash solely which should be equally deprecated.

    https://developers.google.com/youtube/player_parameters

The new method detects the method to use and offers either Flash or HTML5. With Browsers like FireFox disabling Flash completely and Edge offering a pretty prominent "Disable Flash Globally" option, this would be the way to go.

Done. Let me know if I made the default size too big.

I think you missed a closing tag somewhere - currently it crops the page right after the first YouTube video

There's only one tag, and it's definitely closed.

    Which browser?

Chrome. Doesn't do it for all of the videos, just some. For instance, the current last page of the "What makes you happy" thread.

Best I can tell it's some type of problem with VB itself that's only just now surfacing. I'll dig into it more after everyone goes to sleep so I'm not breaking things while people are trying to browse.

Yes, I do have an entire test forum set up, but I don't see what that has to do with anything.

What time is after everyone goes to sleep? Not sure if we have any Aussies left but we used to have a global timezone coverage

There's three-four hours of dead time starting around 1 AM my timezone when there's rarely anyone on, and never more than one at a time (not counting me).

I did give this another shot, but I couldn't figure out what's causing the problems with iframes. Nothing in the source jumped out as suspicious, and I was too lazy to install any real tools that could help me out.

Did you have another go at this? I mean, Flash is definitely going the way of the Dodo

Not after my last post. I'll take another look tonight.

Just wanted to say thanks to Wraith for managing/updating the forum. Remember folks, he's volunteering his time and expertise.

I did this a bit ago, and since nobody's complained since then, I'm going to assume everything's working correctly.

Do you mean the G+1 thing? Our active user base hasn't changed much, has it?

No, I changed the way YouTube videos are embedded on the forum. The G+1 thing I did years ago.
