Yes and the President is an individual. I didn't say lets hope the next Congress is made of free trade Democrats, I said lets hope that the next President is the anti-Trump and Free Trade. Whether that being a primary-winning Republican or a Democrat.
Unfortunately, that's not how nationalism works. Other countries/international organizations will be blamed.
You're probably right unfortunately, these things go in cycles and we seem to be in a down cycle but hopefully it gets kicked back around sooner than later.

Why would any sane politician run on a free-trade platform when it's unpopular with both parties' bases? You know it's a losing cause when arch-ideologue Cruz jumped ship.

Cruz has been a staunch free marketer since getting elected.

And so we have reason to hope that once Trump's honeymoon period ends he can return to form in time for the next cycle.

I agree that free trade is going to be a low priority in politics for the foreseeable future.

Only in his odd definition of the word liberal but that is normal your side of the pond. Any true liberal should support Taiwan.

Trump makes false claims about his roll in, and the end result of, the Carrier deal.
Union leader calls out Trump for said falsehoods.
Trump attacks Union leader on twitter.
Union Leader now receiving nonstop death threats.

Our next cult leader president everyone!

Lets see now if instead you can find the common denominator in my chain of posts?

How long before Trump's or Flynn's tweets kill someone? Over/under on 2 months?

We still have a long way to go. But we're certainly heading in the same direction.

3/4 of Republicans now believe the economy is poised to grow. Shows how deep the support for free-market economics was this whole time.

The economy is probably poised to grow.

It is virtually every year. Recessions are very few and far between.

Who needs a non-partisan civil service? Trump's doing his best to top Putin in cronyism. With virtually no Republican opposition.

Aren't the Democrats meant to provide the opposition?

Republicans control the House and the Senate, and will soon have a majority in the Supreme Court. I would hope that Republicans would oppose someone who makes a mockery of Republican principles. But hope is the denial of reality.

    Edit: Republican Senate leadership: https://twitter.com/Max_Fisher/statu...00906195091456

As Fuzzy's repeatedly explained well the job of the Republicans is to work with and adjust through cooperation their President. It is the job of the Democrats to provide opposition.

No, that's not what I said. It's not their job to work with and adjust through cooperation the President. But they can't do their job well if they don't. That's not as much an issue for the Democrats because a major function of the opposition in contemporary Washington is to be partisan and fight the other party's agenda.

Point taken. Though that feels a bit like splitting hairs, if something is a necessary condition of doing their job well then that is essentially part of their job. Or it should be.

So now the plot thickens; CIA confirms Russia's role in actions intended to get Trump elected. Will Trump indeed be the next President of the United States?
    Congratulations America

It's the job of both parties to protect America's security and institutions.

Meanwhile, 55% of GOP voters claim the whole thing is a Clinton conspiracy: http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/n...209-story.html Time to change the party name to Alex Jones Inc.

Well, if anyone the CIA would know how to spot influencing elections, they've done it often enough themselves.

The CIA could only dream of having the Kremlin's rate of success in this area.

So the new secretary of state is the American with the closest connections to Putin (also no diplomatic experience), and his chief deputy will be John Bolton.

And here's GOP free-marketers trying to justify their about-turn on every issue they've ever cared about: http://www.politico.com/story/2016/1...timulus-232387

It's like acting surprised that a circus ride will cause dizziness, even though that's why you bought the ticket in the first place.
