    Its actually brilliant when you think about it.

    He's actually telling the truth. For example, the media coverage of a case involving the arrest of a bunch of neo-Nazis and "nationalists" who planted bombs with the intention of killing refugees (and managed to put one innocent person in the ICU with permanent disability) has been surprisingly unenthusiastic.

    I'm not particularly worried. I think the courts will check his power in a similar way that they checked Obama's power on certain issues. Republicans in congress aren't going to blindly follow his lead on everything. They'll comprise and push Republican initiatives but it isn't going to be some sort of dictatorship the liberals are crying about.

    WH official: We'll say 'fake news' until media realizes attitude of attacking the President is wrong

    Disagreement = attacks
    Unfavorable = fake
    Media = the opposition
    Protests = Terrorism
    Judicial review = National security threat

    and all that from the orange guy who spent the last 8 years attacking the black guy

    There goes the GOP once again reminding the world which party is actually made up of thin skinned snowflakes.

    Sean Spicer Makes Up Atlanta Islamist Terror Attack

    So he ignores the multiple terrorist attacks by extremist Christians that have happened in Georgia, and instead makes up more fake Islamist attacks.

    I swear either the Mandela effect is real or all these people are survivors from Shelter 41 who've been sent back in time to fuck up the world.

    its gaslighting. They are pushing bounderies to see what they can get away with. They are whittling away at the public's sense of reality. Its already working, they mentioned the Bowling Green Massacre 3 times before someone called bullshit.

    This is Orwellian level shit we're dealing with; "The Party told you to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. It was their final, most essential command."

    Or the whole administration is made up of morons with no thought to mouth filter.

    So now even Trump's nominee for the Supreme Court distances himself from the remarks of the president about so-called judges.
    Congratulations America

    Trump's team finally released their list of terror attacks that went unreported. List includes Charlie Hebdo, San Bernardino (which was one of the multiple misspellings), the Pulse Night Club, the truck attack in Nice, etc.

    However they left off their earlier claims of Bowling Green and Atlanta

    It reads like a list that wouldn't have been possible to compile WITHOUT the media's help. So bizarre that it was even attempted.

    Apparently if you do unconstitutional things, at least the courts will call you out on it. Meanwhile, Republicans have sided with Trump on 99% of the votes thus far. Only three Senators voted against him even once.

    Tens of thousands of triggered Lewkowskian snowflakes are losing their shit over this on social media. Many calls to get rid of the 9th circuit completely as punishment for their obvious attempt to legislate from the bench (in furtherance of their anti-American pro-terrorist liberal agenda) in such an obvious illegal manner that even a bad highschool student can see it's illegal because everyone knows the constitution doesn't apply to foreigners or even to the government.

    Sorry, but 99% is not normal, especially when the president is nominating some people who are utterly unqualified. We don't have a combined legislative-executive branch. We also (at least historically) have far lower party discipline due to congressional candidates being chosen through primaries.

    That's actually a good sign. Trump's pick for SC is a huge deal for me.

    Eh not really. The 9th circuit is a bit zany. There is a case to be made for breaking it up and creating a new circuit court. The rational shouldn't be this ruling but just because it is doesn't mean we should call for efforts to stop its break up.

    "“It represents 20 percent of the population -- and 40 percent of the land mass is in that jurisdiction. It’s just too big,” Flake told Fox News on Wednesday. “We have a bedrock principle of swift justice and if you live in Arizona or anywhere in the 9th Circuit, you just don’t have it.”

    Flake says it typically takes the court 15 months to hand down a decision."

    Can you provide a link showing what percentage is normal less than a month after inauguration?

    Hard to say. Pence's tie-breaker vote for DeVos seems to be unprecedented. Polarization in cabinet picks has steadily increased starting with Reagan. Cheney was the tie-breaker fewer than 10 times.

    I agree about it being a good sign; Supreme Court Justices should not be beholden to anyone. I care about the principle of separation of powers. Unlike those people who think it's a good idea that the head of the executive goes after the judiciary because he doesn't like a ruling. It is a seriously small step from talking about so-called judges to not heeding their verdicts any longer.
    Congratulations America

    This is hilarious. Andrew Neil is by far the best political presenter on the BBC, he takes no bullshit from anyone.

    A few obvious flaws with that analysis.

    While giving a cursory reference to the fact we are only 12 votes into this Presidency, the article then proceeds to make inane comparisons between the votes so far and the votes in 2008 during Dubya Bush's final year, or the whole 8 year period of Obama's office.

    The first few votes of a new President's "honeymoon" are not going to be the same as the rest of the time in office. Even a cursory glance at the graph shows spikes in 2009, 2001 [most of which would have predated 9/11], 1993, 1989 and 1981 etc - a new President sees partisans act in an especially partisan manner. This should hardly be a shock, it would make sense that not only is a new President more likely to be at their peak of "political capital", but when a party has newly gained office the first few votes would likely be partisan issues that matter strongly to the party and that were opposed by the new President's predecessor.

    What would be far more meaningful is a comparison of the percentage of the first 12 votes of this Presidency with the first 12 votes of prior Presidencies.

    Right Rand. The only evidence that would convince you is evidence that obviously doesn't exist.
