Bias....like Fox & Friends? There's a difference between news media and social media. And you're misusing the term "journalist".

"News" can mean network or cable TV, plus newspapers and journals (and their digital platforms), and sometimes radio (like BBC News or Public Radio News Hour). They check facts and report information, often using archival history to add context. The publishers and editors require multiple, reliable sources, including "off-the-record" sources who remain anonymous to the public. Journalism uses high standards for finding truth and speaking truth to power (see Viet Nam or Watergate). Even "Breaking News" stories -- when a camera crew rushes to the scene of a crime or disaster -- vet the people they interview and/or broadcast.

Most TV news outlets also host opinion shows, just as newspapers have an Op-Ed section. (The larger newspapers won't publish obvious crap, but small town papers often do, and not always with a note from the Editor correcting the record with facts). The Fox network has opinion cable TV shows with Tucker Carlson or Laura Ingraham, just as radio networks have opinion shows with Rush Limbaugh or Michael Savage. That is NOT journalism.

"Social media" means Facebook, Twitter, blogs, chat rooms....and forums like this! Just because you read a story 'somewhere' (like Breitbart or InfoWars), or see a segment on Fox News does NOT mean you've actually got the News, as written by journalists, or have the facts. Those are opinion shows with an obvious bias. And that's okay....so long as they don't pretend to be fact-based NEWS.

Unfortunately, so many people assume all links on Social Media are real and factual, that they copy/paste Faux News to their own Friends & Family. Before ya know it, the "real" News is covering conspiracy theories trending on Social Media. It's been so successful in spreading fake over fact, that even the Russians made it part of their propaganda playbook.

One of the frustrating but possibly positive end result outcomes from Trump is his 'always strike back' approach. I thought it was absolutely idiotic during the campaign but I'm starting to see the pluses. If the media takes an unfair swing at Trump (or if we are honest even a fair swing), he'll punch back. And not always 'at the media' but call people out by name. If a media figure who tries to presents themselves as objective gets into a partisan slugging match with Trump they'll be stamped forever as having a liberal bias and lose half the country as a potential audience.
What "media"? If you mean CNN, The Washington Post, or the New York Times (some of his favorite targets)....since when did fact checking become a non-objective, partisan venture of teh liberals? Isn't that what good journalists are supposed to do as agents of the Free Press?
