Will Lewk be calling for the cops to shoot thousands of Flint youths a decade from now?

Will there be any damages paid by anyone responsible to those who've been harmed?

Will anyone go to jail over this?

Lewk might change by the time the hundreds, not thousands, of casualties are old enough to be shot (that's 12 years old , right?).

All casualties will receive SSD benefits for the rest of their lives.

    Nobody will go to jail.

If hindsight is 20-20, why is it so often ignored?

There will be damages paid. Oh yes, that's going to happen. Civil fraud, falsification, and negligence, ultimately resulting in many chronic illnesses, retardation, and some death? Definitely. But there won't be jail time, Being is correct on that. You don't have any mens rea for the harm that was inflicted, none of the damage was acute, and since it was only a proximate cause of future injury there's really no criminal culpability there. That would only leave criminal fraud from falsification and you need not only misrepresentation and intent to deceive but at least an intent to materially gain from the deception. That's lacking here. Depending on state law over in Michigan it's possible there's still some criminal violation they'd be guilty of but I very much doubt it's something that has more than fines associated with it. This was a failure of effective regulation, not any sort of criminal enterprise. They didn't make the decision to pump the water, they didn't cause the water to leach lead from the pipes, they had nothing to do with people using the water. They faced a significant problem/difficulty in following their regulatory set-up, engaged in omission by opting to just ignore the issue they didn't know how to adequately address, and lied about it afterwards.

Will the city go bankrupt at this point?
