That one of those sites that costs a credit to bid and you have to buy credits in bulk? So even though that $500 iPad went for $100, the site made several hundred dollars on bidding alone...
We've got a few of those over here the papers say are legit, but its a business model thats to easy for morons to pass up, so you get a lot of crappy and failed attempts.

I discovered you don't even need an account. You can bid even without signing in, they tie the free two bids to your Session ID in advance.

Which means that you simply delete the Session ID, and presto: Bid again ad finitum!

WOW. Almost put this in the messed up thread. I had received a couple of messages on my answering machine for my ex husband. "Urgent matter", please return call ASAP, they said. I told my ex in passing, but he blew it off. Whatevah. Then I got another call, and decided to see what was up. The man on the phone told me the call would be recorded, then asked me how to reach XXX, what was his phone number? I said we're divorced but you guys called ME, so tell ME what this is about. "No ma'am, it's confidential. What's his phone number?"

I asked how they had MY phone number but not his. Why are they calling ME but not him? The guy just kept asking for the ex's phone number and was rather terse and rude, so I got a little pissy at this point. I asked who did he owe and how much? The little twit told me I was being childish, that's confidential, just give him the phone number. So I said, if you want it, tell me why. I don't even know who I'm talking to, who ARE YOU? Then he said never mind, we'll find his number, we can track him down. And I said THEN WHY DID YOU CALL ME? And he hung up.

I get loads of those at work. People who put us down on a loan (typically who've worked for a week only) then bugger off. Try explaining to half of them that no I they're not on this number, no you can't call back later to speak to them, no I don't have any contact details and no even if I did I wouldn't give it anyway ... the amount of times I've been called "unhelpful" ... hey, guess what I'm not supposed to be helpful to you . Here's a helpful tip, don't lend money to people who won't pay it back, I know my bank will never call anyone.

We have a service calling us, repeatedly, about debts owed by someone who has never lived at our address, but shares a similar last name and first initial as the name we have registered in the telephone directory. I'd really like to report them or get them slapped with a fine somehow because they're a bunch of douches, its mostly automated calls, however when it is a person they never mention their actual business name, and the phone number is just a calling/routing center, not the actual business trying to collect the debt.

The ex has this new flame, they're engaged actually, and she bought a house down the street from him. They've been doing extensive remodeling on her house, but it's really their joint venture. Meanwhile, he's let his house go to pot, literally. It looks abandoned or as if someone is harvesting pot or cooking meth. It needs to be demolished. I wonder if the municipal authorities haven't caught up to him, or a lien was placed on his house recently, or something like that. He racked up a lot of credit card debt after our divorce, but he claims he and his fiance applied jointly for her (their) home remodeling.

The whole thing stinks. Besides getting calls at my home for him, our kids have to deal with this, back and forth to her house, working on his house (he thinks he can rent it out after the boys clean it up, ha) and the school bus and all the neighborhood kids riding right by that mess of a place......

Prosecutors say that Bagley and another person, known only to the jury, lured the then 16-year-old "FV" to their trailer with promises of making her a model and a dancer.
Instead, they gave her marijuana and Ecstasy, sexually abused her, and Bagley had her sign a lifetime sex-slave contract when she turned 18, according to the indictment.
Prosecutors claim Bagley marked FV with a bar code on the girl's neck, a tribal tattoo with an S for slavery on her back and the Chinese symbol for slave on her ankle.
The indictment alleges that Bagley also pierced and sewed FV's vaginal opening and breasts with metal piercings and needles; whipped her body, breasts, genitalia and anus with paddles, canes and floggers; tied her up naked, suspended her in the air and stretched her limbs in opposite directions; shocked her with electrical devices;
tied and nailed her labia and nipples to slabs of wood; inserted a catheter into her urethra and clamped the cord to prevent urination for extended periods of time; bound and tied her naked to a wooden pony with an appendage inserted into her vagina or anus; strapped her down for hours at a time on a homemade device consisting of a plastic toolbox with a motor and a piston inside connected to a metal arm with a dildo attached; tied ball gags and leather hoods over her mouth, which interfered with her ability to see, speak and breathe; locked and handcuffed her naked in a dog cage, often suspending the cage in the air or attaching her sex organs to electrical devices while she was trapped in the cage; inserted a plug into her anus which he used to electrocute her and force water into her rectum; suffocated her to unconsciousness with ropes and plastic bags; waterboarded her; and performed abortions on her, using speculums, vacuums and clothes hangers to end pregnancies.
Prosecutors say the torture included live Web shows. Bagley allegedly threatened to kill FV and demonstrated his force by shooting animals she cared for in front of her. The torture stopped on Feb. 27, 2009 when Bagley was forced to seek emergency medical attention for FV after she suffered a cardiac arrest during the torture, court papers state.
Also indicted were Dennis Henry, 50, Michael Stokes, 62, James Noel, 44, and Bradley Cook, 31. Prosecutors say the men paid Bagley in cash, meat, cigarettes, clothes and lighters to torture the woman.
All five men face charges of conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion; and use of an interstate facility to facilitate and unlawful activity.
Bagley and Henry face an additional charge of transportation for sexual activity. Bagley and Cook face an additional charge of drug user in possession of a firearm. Bagley faces additional charges of forced labor trafficking, use of an interstate facility for enticement, document servitude, enticement to travel for sexual activity, conspiracy to distribute a controlled substance to a person under 21 years old, and use of an interstate facility to facilitate unlawful activity.

It depends by state, but you can still possibly get statutory rape, even if "consented" by a 16-yr-old. I think 16 is a common cut-off age, though.

I never encountered any of the described acts in real life. But I do know there are people who've got a very different idea of what nice sex constitutes than I have. I do agree about the 'consent' remark, but we don't know what happened when and if she was so impared that she could not consent legally.
