http://news.yahoo.com/calif-teacher-...235622052.htmlSAN DIEGO (AP) — A San Diego-area teacher says she is losing her job for being the victim of domestic violence.
The attorney for Holy Trinity School teacher Carie Charlesworth told The Associated Press on Thursday that she had received a letter notifying her that her 14-year contract would not be renewed because her ex-husband's violent history posed a risk to the school...

I don't understand why I live in this city:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22910579
Yeah, that story hit cable news today, wiggin. Definitely a big WTF.
According to the Dean of Summer School for our county, enrollment is way down. Not that students don't need summer school classes to meet mandatory credits and/or Core Class requirements (including some 500 students who annually "flunk" PE )....but because they can't afford the tuition in a struggling economy.
Each Academic class costs $150. Health, PE, and Computer Apps classes cost $95.
http://www.charlotteobserver.com/201...equipment.htmlTo stage last year’s Democratic National Convention, the local host committee raised millions of dollars, much of it for computers, phones and other communication devices.
Now it appears a sizable amount of that equipment was lost, stolen – or perhaps kept by the staffers it had been assigned to.
The Democratic National Convention Committee said it recently sent the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department a spreadsheet detailing $496,000 worth of missing equipment. CMPD created an incident report in May...

"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
It's not really a WTF, but it's fascinating to watch "guest" numbers escalate at certain times.
Just watched WWZ, which İ liked. Thing is that in the Turkish subtitles they consequently translated 'İsrael' as 'Middle-East'
Congratulations America
Temps in the US southwest reaching 110-115 degrees (F). Temps in parked cars recording 120, and airport tarmacs reaching 140! That's some crazy hot heat.

Someone drove into the river behind work a few hours ago. News is claiming a suicide attempt, but I don't see how they thought it was going to be successful based on the timing and location.

British public wrong about nearly everything, survey shows
Research shows public opinion often deviates from facts on key social issues including crime, benefit fraud and immigration
"In a field where an overlooked bug could cost millions, you want people who will speak their minds, even if they’re sometimes obnoxious about it."
That doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
When the red tops and the Daily Fail, which are read by a significant majority, scream headlines such as
"ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS IMPREGNATE OUR TEENAGERS WHILE FRAUDULENTLY CLAIMING BENEFITS"
on a daily basis, it's no suprise that public perception is horribly skewed.
Probably the best headline I've seen from a real news source this month
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
Forced feedings of Gitmo prisoners on hunger strikes will temporarily halt, in observance of Ramadan and religious fasting. WTF?
"a man is born full of harmonies" is my favourite quote this month
Full quote:
http://abovethelaw.com/2013/07/lawye...orn-addiction/As human beings themselves, Apple employees know that a man is born full of harmonies and attacked to by women engaging in sexual acts with the intent to cause vicarious arousal.
Of course, the man is probably going through some sort of mental breakdown

wow, how can facebook to fuckbook be described as a "typo"? lol
(Left that last bit there in case someone has never heard of Vikernes before. Not entirely accurate, by the way - he didn't serve full sentence, he was released on probation after 15 years.)Neo-nazi and black metal star Varg Vikernes arrested in France
Black metal musician and neo-nazi sympathizer Kristian “Varg” Vikernes has been arrested and taken to custody in the Correze region of France this Tuesday, according to French radio RTL.
...
Vikernes, the man behind black metal project Burzum, had spent 21 years in prison – the maximum sentence in Norway – for the murder of Øystein Aarseth, known as Euronymous, the guitar player of black metal band Mayhem. Vikernes had also been convicted of arson attacks on four churches, he was freed in May 2009. He then moved to France with his wife and three children.
The reason why this made me go WTF is the official reason for the arrest:
Despite his violent past and rather extreme views, Vikernes is a strong opponent of Breivik's ideas, and has repeatedly condemned the 2011 Norway attacks.Breivik sending a copy of a manifesto setting out his ideology to Vikernes, an official at the prosecutor’s office said. “That was at the origin of the investigation … There were several suspicions that made the services fear he could possibly carry out a violent act,” the official said.
