I've not defended Soul Calibur as tasteful. I don't play it, I think it's s##t, I just think hysterical comparisons to rape and abuse are pathetic. If you think it's tasteless or rubbish, don't buy it, problem solved. Unless you want censorship, in which case it's not solved but I'll oppose that.

I confess am not super familiar with how they are depicted, or even if/or what stereotypes there are to be followed. I think what I was more trying to get at is we, (from my interpretation of the general views of forum members) aren't terribly offended by an individual's sexual preferences, (obviously not including pedophilia but certainly up to and including those who are attracted to woman with larger breasts, or hot man on man action) but many do have fairly strong opinions about how games are marketed, or characters within those games portrayed. I'm not sure I am certain why that distinction exists.

Well that would depend on the solidity and accuracy of the opinion. You're not trying to claim we should accept or refuse claims based on the person making them, are you? Because I'm pretty sure you know the word for that.

I don't think anyone should be forced to accept or refuse opinion based claims based solely on any single criteria. Opinions are cheap. Similarly, I don't think producers would do well to ignore their target audience, or make a game they aren't interested in making in order to appease scorn from individuals who may have an agenda, or those who desire content that is not in the interest of the creator or the intended audience. My opinion on what would make good pornography, or a good game is likely very different from yours, or Minx's, or Loki's. I am not trying to invalidate their enjoyment of their favorite pornography or game because it may not appeal to me. I don't feel the need, nor do I see the value in being critical of others leisure activities that in no way impact me. Which is likely why this is the first time I have seen the characters that Loki and Ominous posted. It doesn't seem like a type of game that would naturally interest me. That does not mean that the game is entirely without merit, that people who enjoy or create it are sexists, or that it is wrong that the characters were designed the way they were. I don't need to discredit other people's enjoyment of their chosen media in order to make myself feel better, or stoke Internet outrage.

No, I said "if you have something to say, say it here". Telling me to watch random YouTube videos that he's not linked to from here, or read random stuff I'm supposed to find myself that he's not linked to, neither of those are engaging IMO.
