    Default Markdown shenanigans

It seems that there's a Markdown plugin*somewhere which tries to inject Markdown tags whenever I'm using VB-tags.

See the asterisk above? I definitely didn't write that one.

I don't see an asterix in the OP, only in your third post.

you don't see plugin*somewhere in the OP?

    I don't see it either.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

    Hmmm i dunno.

It's this irrespective of browser and platform? Do you have any text replacement tools installed? Have you tried turning it off and then on again?

Wait, so only some of us see the asterisk in Khen's post?

    Correct.

I'm seeing it now but didn't last night. Different browsers though so no idea if that helps or not.

Okay, this is very weird.*Happens in Edge, no browser-addons concerning text replacement.

Okay, this is another test. Just to see if there's a rhyme or reason as to where the asterisk strikes next.

Or, indeed, if he will strike.

    edit: Obviously not always.

    Aimless:

    No asterisks given?

Okay, I can't really figure out where and when those things are coming from.

I declare those who do not see these asterisks to be right-thinking users, while those who do see them to be pinko fascist terrorists. Do I hear a second?

At this point I'd like to propose an alternative hypothesis:

I'm seeing asterisks in most of Khen's posts now across the forum even where there is no vB code.

I did see two of these asterisks he's enslaved into service myself today, in the Brexit thread. They stayed in his text for me when I quoted him, is that normal for these semi-invisible asterisks?

Whatever problem exists, I think it's on Khen's machine, although it is weird that sometimes some people can't seem his asterisks. Unless someone else is also spontaneously generating asterisks?

Interesting. Still curious why the asterisks are not permanently visible though.

I see them in Khen's posts, too. To be honest, I totally assumed he had picked up a very strange way to indicate emphasis on some words...

Khen, did you get a chance to test the solution in the link I posted?
