We should have required 2/3 to ratify Lisbon and Nice and Maastricht then but that didn't happen either.

Which EU Treaty has required a 2/3 majority to pass and where and when did that occur?

You seem to have missed the "destructive" adjective.

And who determines what is destructive? Many in this country believe the destruction of centuries of protections in our constitution and setting up an undemocratic alternative for us to follow instead is destructive.

Whereas being an independent sovereign nation is liberating not destructive.

What's sauce for the goose is good for the gander you hypocrite.

You'll be able to see what "destructive" is when November comes around, your naive belief that this will simply blow over due to people "being distracted by Christmas" nonwithstanding.

We'll remind you of this. We'll be able to say: "We told you so."

Meanwhile in the real world UK employment rates continue to surge ever better, we have the highest ever employment levels, the lowest unemployment since 1974 and wages are rising faster than inflation. Real wage growth is the highest its been in years.

But yeah its all doom and gloom.

The US Congress isn't going to be willing to ratify any deal with the UK if the UK renages on the GFA.

Less unemployment doesn't mean very much if the people who are actually working are walking away. Or if you set the threshold for being employed so low that only the truly unwilling don't qualify.

Brexit is coming Randy, anf it's going to be godawful ugly.
    Congratulations America

Pound hits 27 month low as the govt desperately inflates employment stats that will be pushed hard by the departure of EU citizens. It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

You're illiterate again Aimless. We are getting net immigration not emigration. And unless something has changed the governments share of employment has been falling all decade so they're not inflating it.

Other than being completely wrong on what you said, good job!

Where are you getting your numbers from that you can say this with so much certainty?

    https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulat...report/may2019

This only goes up to December 2018.

Also, there's this little tidbit you've chosen to overlook:

Since 2016, total long-term immigration to the UK for work has continued to decrease

    From your own link
    4. Migration continues to add to the population of the UK

An estimated 258,000 more people came to the UK with an intention to stay 12 months or more than left in the year ending December 2018 (net migration). Over the year, 602,000 people arrived in the UK (immigration) and 343,000 people left the UK (emigration).
I say we are getting net migration and you give a link saying net migration is 258,000. Well done! *slow clap*

Jesus Christ, Dude. Learn to read.

First of all, these are preliminary numbers from DECEMBER. That's in the past, you're talking about the present. Secondly, you have just shown how utterly incapable you are of comprehending what I wrote.

You: Just look at those beautiful numbers from A!
Me: Yeah, but the numbers at B are worrying.
You: But you just said A!
    Me: ... seriously?

Here's a slight hint: A function and the first derivative of a function have slightly different meanings.

Pound hitting 27 month low is simply a fact, as is the reversal in migration from those EU countries most important to staffing in service, hospitality, maintenance & cleaning, building etc sectors. The govt inflates employment stats by tweaking the definition of employment, lowering the threshold to an absurd level. It's a little pathetic but obv lowering the bar is how you guys prefer to succeed. Whatever you may imagine about long-term immigration pre-Brexit, it says little about long-term immigration post-Brexit.

Who gives a flying fig that the numbers are from December? Unless something spectacular has happened the numbers are going to be similar.

The derivative is absolutely irrelevant. B is not worrying. It is not at all concerning to that net migration is 258,000 per annum . . . although that is over two and a half times what the government has three times been elected to set as its target (tens of thousands per annum).

What you are doing is like suggesting that driving at 75 miles per hour on a residential road with a 30 miles per hour speed limit is not fast because the car was previously doing 78 miles per hour.

Pound hitting 27 month low is a fact but rather irrelevant. Just making our exports more competitive, given our trade deficit and low inflation its not a bad thing.
There is no reversal in migration we are getting net immigration. Please show a single report showing net emigration.
The government doesn't tweak the definition of employment, this is set at an international level and our statistics are internationally consistent.

We can't see the future true but post-Referendum net immigration is still soaring ahead at over 2.5 times the threshold target.

Are you illiterate or is there some other reason you're pretending I didn't say "reversal in migration from those EU countries most important to staffing in service, hospitality, maintenance & cleaning, building"?

Please show any statistical evidence for net emigration (which is what a reversal in migration is) from those EU countries . . . it doesn't exist because its bullshit derivatives you're playing with.

The ONS generates estimates of net migration from EU3, EU15, EU8 and EU2. It's right there in your data on net migration even if you disregard the risk of overestimating long-term immigration. It's literally in the first table of the underlying data, table frickin' one.
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."

  21. #3951
    Net Migration EU of 74,000

    Net Migration EU15 of 47,000

    Net Emigration EU8 of 10,000

    Net Migration EU2 of 33,000

So no there isn't net emigration from the EU though there has been a very small emigration rate specifically from EU8 that is dwarfed by much higher immigration of EU2 and EU15.

So there has been no reversal of migration from the EU we are still net drawing migrants in to the UK.

Are you illiterate or is there some other reason you're pretending I said something other than what I said? Do you think pretending to be illiterate makes you look clever when anyone reading this thread can compare what I said to what you're pretending I said?

You said there was a reversal of migration. A reversal of migration is emigration. Has there been net emigration yes or no?

Net migration from the EU 74k.
    Net migration altogether >250k.

Net migration is very high the idea there is net emigration is complete and utter bullshit.

The fun of a no deal Brexit is that it makes even getting what we gave the Brits in the WA will become harder to get an more expensive.

What the Brexitards don't understand is that at the moment they have to convince a majority of the leaders and the EP to have a deal. After Brexit they will need unanimity and a full ratification process in all member states.
    Congratulations America

  26. #3956
And what the Eurotards don't understand is that at the moment they have to convince a majority of Parliament that it is a good deal.

Actually that is the job of your government. We don't have to convince anyone of anything. And if you like to have no arrangement in a highly regulated world; well, that's on your own heads.
    Congratulations America
