What's most amazing is how breximaniacs think that Brexit is such a monumental fuck fest because of Theresa being the 'worst PM ever'. As if Boris would have gotten a better deal with his usual bluster, in stead of the humiliation being even more on display than today.
    Congratulations America

The govt's preparation notices read like satire but are of course all too realistic.

Seems like they are wrapping up in Brussels. I wonder if the UK still has a government by tomorrow afternoon.

Der SPIEGEL is reporting that there was no agreement this evening.
When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

Hope not. But I expect we will.

    Only 4 more letters, though.

Time to batten down the hatches? Seems Theresa is going to say something about Brexit to the British parliament.
    Congratulations America

There's a man goin' 'round, takin' names
And he decides who to free and who to blame

Seems right. May has been such an unmitigated disaster as PM that she is trusted by nobody - not opponents of the Tories, not Tories themselves, not European partners. Who here trusts May?

It is one thing not to agree with someone, it is entirely different not to trust them.

It is very interesting to see the difficulties perennially untrustworthy British politicians are having with understanding the EU's reluctance to accept the offer of a time-limited "backstop" on good faith.
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."

May was insane to grant a backstop in the first place and it should never have been for a day longer than any associated trade deal. We had a 2 year break clause from our entire EU membership but not from this bullshit? No thanks, no deal.

Any deal is time limited though as any future PM can just break it. Better to know in advance the break conditions.

What is wrong with you that you think that telling you are going to break your word at the start of a relationship makes you more reliable?
    Congratulations America

  19. #2779
Not break the word, termination conditions for an agreement. That's not breaking your word. Almost every agreement ever comes with termination conditions.

And at that point we shall let you keep the ‘unrelated’ benefit of frictionless trade?

I don’t want to burst your bubble, but under no circumstances we will create a situation that increases your leverage.
    Congratulations America

The GFA didn't. Of course, you seem to be hellbent on wanting bombs exploding again all over the place.

No at that point frictionless trade terminates unless a new deal replaces it. You don't get this do you?

A soft customs border doesn't violate the GFA. Your proposed backstop does completely. It destroys it and the principle of consent underpinning it is explicitly violated.

You really don't get it. You just don't.

And that's the crux of it: You are pathologically incapable of educating yourself and keep stubbornly insisting that what you're saying is true even if it flies in the face of reality.

From the get-go you guys didn't understand that you don't get things for free. You want access to the one market? Then you have to offer something for that access in return because that's something only EU members get for free. We've always told you how it's going to be and where the lines are legally drawn. Meanwhile, all you did was whaffling around with cakeism.

You're already destroying yourself with something your own politicians called "the easiest deal to be made ever!" And then you think that all the other deals you now desperately need to make will be better? Okay, maybe someone will help you out - but if you think that this help will be free of cost then you have another thing coming.

Your whole brigade of English politicians seem to consist of a bunch of proper fools. Maybe the next lot after them will be more sane.

It's really amazing isn't it? Take that backstop to the backstop thing that May tried to start.

What the 'backstop to the backstop' really is, is the original backstop and what they call the backstop is something that isn't actually a backstop of the kind that you could call a backstop.

It's a bit like someone putting a screen door in front of a real door and tells you that this screen door makes the idea of keeping the real door ridiculous. Maybe they believe their own nonsense, but nobody on this side of La Manche is convinced.

I can only hope that tomorrow's council will designate the november meeting a no-deal preparation council. We simply shouldn't bother to keep talking to these people untill they start seeing reason.
    Congratulations America

None of that is even relevant to what I wrote.

The EU's proposed backstop is in violation of the GFA.

Whether we get market access or whatever is not relevant to that.

You know Randy? Nobody gives a flying fuck for what you think is right or wrong. The main reason for this would be that you are not capable of understanding your position in these negotiations: you are not equals, you are not special and you are not particularly liked.
    Congratulations America

Fine, goodbye. We're choosing to leave you not the other way around dipshit.

Good! So should the UK. Time to replace our PM and prepare for no deal.

We can start talking if and when both sides are ready to.
