Default Taqiyyah; how can we prevail against an enemy that lies?

It's no secret that full-fledged and budding right-wing extremists--neo-Nazis, the "alt right", white supremacists and ethno-nationalists--are encouraged to tone down or hide their extreme beliefs--even lie--in order to evade negative attention and look reasonable, approachable, safe, lulling their enemies on the left into a false sense of security, except when recruiting or actively trying to show off their strength. With their numbers steadily growing, we find ourselves faced with some vital yet perhaps impossibly difficult questions:

How do we know which edgy/trollish, memeing, liberal-hating, chauvinistic white guy to trust? How do we know who's safe and who's not? Who to invite home for dinner? How do we go about monitoring them (within the boundaries set by the law of course)? How do we fight them, how do we turn them? What can we do to stop them from irrevocably gaining too much influence in the legislature and in law enforcement, in our schools and universities, in our papers and on our TVs?

They've been doing this for years, and it's not just neo-nazis.

Or have we forgotten when social conservatives were suddenly very concerned about 'family values' as if it wasn't blinding obvious that this was thinly veiled homophobic bigotry? Or when creationism shredded before their very eyes, and then suddenly they were talking about 'intelligent design', like that was different?

Honestly, it's not hard to figure these guys out, they're not exactly masters of disguise.
When the sky above us fell
    We descended into hell
    Into kingdom come
