    We still have massive housing inflation in many parts of the US. Much of this is driven by bad government policy that subsidizes housing debt. This is why we need tax reform; to deflate housing prices in high-tax areas.

    I certainly agree that trashing the mortgage deduction (at least for large mortgages) is the right thing to do. But in really high priced areas, that's not the major thing driving costs - instead, costs are driven up by ridiculously constrained supply. Tax policy has little to do with this on a federal level.
