Son, if you must say something, at least try to not say anything that makes you look like a dumbass. How far up your ass have you shoved your head that this sounds like a defense in your mind you utter numbskull? It's an idiotic comparison. It was an idiotic comparison 20+ years ago too. There were senators once who weren't opposed to saying the n-word—should Graham now start saying that on camera as well, as he undoubtedly has done in private in the past?

Lindsey Graham introduced a resolution condemning the impeachment process. He even used cardboard visuals (Trump needs those). At first he condemned the 'conservative' Republicans storming the SCIF, but then walked that back.

This is the same 'conservative' who thought Clinton's impeachment was about cleansing the presidency, and had no problem with Ken Starr's private hearings. He also called Trump a race-baiting, xenophobic, religious bigot in 2015 but agreed with his 'lynching' comment.

I suppose that's dancing the Trumpian Two-Faced Twist, but how it passes as 'conservative values' is mind boggling.

Another rules for thee but not for me scenario. Just like using the nuclear option for judge appointments, Democrats did it first but when Republicans did it the media goes into a frenzy.

Based on LF's view since you didn't speak up about it in 1998 you obviously supported it then.

Again, are you illiterate or just stupid? Because your latest comment strongly suggests the latter.

Hypocrisy is bipartisan, but Lindsey Graham takes it to a schizoid level.

And the media just covers the news...including the frenzied pace the (R) held Senate is confirming young, inexperienced, and unqualified federal judges.

Could be posted in the Impeachment thread, too. But (R) 'conservatives' are making a big mistake defending Trump's autocratic ego:

"A democracy can turn into a tyranny not all at once, with a bang, but over time. Officials, often elected, often popular, can simply decide to weaken and then dispense with constitutional constraints or legislative checks. Liberty is eroded slowly but steadily. The Weimar Republic was a well-functioning liberal democracy that, within a few short years, using mostly legal processes, became a totalitarian dictatorship. Reflecting on that history, Yale’s Timothy Snyder wrote, “The conclusions for conservatives of today emerge clearly: Do not break the rules that hold a republic together, because one day you will need order.”"

They're praying for God's Chosen One.

I'm wondering how any 'conservative' can continue to defend Trump, or belong to the New Republican Party (The Trump Party) now that they've pledged loyalty to the man over their oath to the constitution. Rule of Law? Separation of Powers? Co-equal branches of gov't? Facts and Truth? ppfftt

    Looolll:

More on Trump as God's Chosen One, this time from Rick Perry:

    https://www.pressherald.com/2019/12/...tian-movement/

Links like this one https://www.texasobserver.org/rick-perrys-army-of-god/ explore the history of 'the movement' and how it's become part of the GOP. And don't forget Trump's spiritual adviser Paula White https://www.newsweek.com/trump-spiri...perate-1470197

In the 1960's, conservatives (mostly Protestants) were worried that a Catholic president would 'take orders' from the Pope. JFK delivered a speech about practicing religion while honoring the Constitution at the same time; separating Church from State. Whatever happened to that ideal?

Today, there are factions of Evangelical Christians who believe their mission ("God's mandate") is to infiltrate and control politics and government. But instead of pushing back on this religious extremism influence, the GOP has absorbed it. It's as inexplicable as the Kellyanne and George Conway marriage.

Just another Republican senator spreading Russian disinfo:

"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."

More on the White Evangelical Christian political power structure, and how 'conservatives' are responding to their own hypocrisy/paradox:

    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-50906346

I looked around but couldn't find any post about this. I think it's pretty big news since it highlights a fracture within the WEC community, which makes up a large chunk of Trump's 'conservative' Republican base.

    Yes indeed, very unprecedented

I'm gonna let you think about your post for a moment.

This is dumber than Dread's post:

"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."

This is a sad look for a political leader:

"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."

Trump isn't at all a conservative. He's an asinine egocentric moron as are those who justify him.

Conservatism is as conservatives do, and American conservatives have fallen in line behind this bellend. Lying about stupid shit is the hallmark of the movement right now.

  26. #386
Agreed, besides Romney there doesn't seem to be a decent member of the GOP left.

Trump's not very conservative on a few different things but his base won't ever leave him as long as he keeps working with the senate to push good judges through.

  28. #388
So you really DO want a political judiciary.

I want a judiciary that puts the constitution above the current whim and will of the people.

The original constitution that only recognized and codified the rights of white male property owners?
