    Default "Two minutes to midnight"

    https://thebulletin.org/2018-doomsday-clock-statement

Just read that the Doomsday Clock for this year is "two minutes to midnight", the same as it was in 1953 at the very height of the Cold War tensions and actually closer to midnight than during most of the Cold War.

That seems absolutely utterly ridiculous to me. Sure there are tensions at the moment but to suggest we're as close now to armageddon as we ever were during the Cold War, closer than most of it, is just silly. By means of comparison during the Cuban Missile Crisis the clock remained at "seven minutes to midnight" - however bad things are now they're nothing like the Cuban Missile Crisis.

It's a Doomsday equivalent of inflation.

Depends if the clock represents the odds of a nuclear war or Armageddon. The former is getting more likely (US vs. North Korea).

When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

    It's meant to be Armageddon.

The doomsday clock is mostly bollocks.

    There I said it.
When the sky above us fell
    We descended into hell
    Into kingdom come
