Now, before we get to the mandatory ranting about leftists and unions can we perhaps take a moment to ponder the consequences of these people having power over people's lives and livelihoods?

Oh, I was already wondering why you started a separate thread about the Tories.
Greece shows us that there is a kind of politician worse than the ones that break their election promises; the ones that keep their election promises.

"A few months later, in April, Marrero got into an altercation with a man while issuing him a parking ticket in front of a Toyota dealership in the Bronx. A judge found Marrero’s explanation of why he arrested the man, who later claimed he was thrown to the ground and punched repeatedly in the head, to be “incredible.” All charges against the man were dropped and the city settled his lawsuit for $500,000 without admitting wrongdoing. The disciplinary documents BuzzFeed News obtained include no record that Marrero faced any punishment."

Only in a government run job can you lose $500,000 and face no disciplinary action.

Isn't that a fundamentally anti-statist argument about anyone having power of anyone's lives?

No I mean, like, ponder the specific consequences of these specific people having power over the lives and livelihoods of the specific people they encounter.
