    Default Quiet bombs

A little surprised this hasn't gotten more attention. I've been waiting for days expecting to see it blow up all over news & social media, but... mostly crickets.

Package bombs sent to black people in Texas, killing two people:

Two more injured by a fourth bomb:

I've seen it a lot on social media and local news but then again I live in Texas.

Haven't seen anything outside of reddit. Not a peep from president asshole either.

The guy doing it probably wants notoriety given what's been going on with the packages. The less he's given, the better. The President shouldn't comment about it, at least not until he's captured.

I don't disagree, but I also don't think that's the reason for the muted coverage.

    Meanwhile, another:

Having worked Fedex, there is A LOT of stuff that can be followed up from that package. Even if its completely destroyed. Seeing how this bomber is smart enough to change up his tactics I'm curious how far they went to cover their tracks on this one.

So apparently this guy was a moron. He was already known to law enforcement.* His tag was recorded from a fedex dropoff that threw up all kinds of red flags, he kept his phone on him which allowed law enforcement to track him. He was likely intercepted while in the process of delivering his next device, which he used to kill himself.

*This + Texas = a lot of people jumping on the tiki torch taliban claims, but I haven't seen any news do anything in depth to justify this yet.

Arm people with bombs to defend against suspected bombs. It's the only way.

    conservative, anti-abortion, anti-gay, xenophobe.

Its a totally mystery how someone like this could have been radicalized in our current climate. total mystery.

Looks like a generic lone wolf killer. Meets all the requirements.

The irony is that people will make the (true) argument that guns don't kill people, people kill people. The fact that you are using an anti-gun meme about someone who used bombs instead of guns to kill people is amusing.

How many fatal bombings have you had in the US this year?

It isn't ironic. Bombs are controlled, possessing them is illegal and there is no right to bear [bombs] despite them being a form of arms. As a result bomb-deaths are very infrequent. Control works.

The point is any determined person can kill someone in modern society (barring highly secure targets).

So everyone being armed to the teeth for self-defence purposes is pointless?

    Got it.

The point is that a vast majority of murderers aren't highly determined. That's why in every other Western country, the same people end up assaulting or stabbing one or two people, rather than mowing down a school.

Only people die. Clearly the answer is to learn CPR.

We should be thankful that most terrorists and criminals really aren't too bright.

There's also the fun fact that arming people to the teeth doesn't do very much to prevent despotic governments as well.

George Washington (a former officer in the British military) had slightly more to do with that victory than Joe Schmo.

Yes when your military rebels is rather more serious than when a farmer does.

Much of the Continental army were farmers. Very few were professional soldiers.

Hardly uncommon during the period, or indeed throughout history generally.

Yes, let's trot out examples from centuries back and ignore the current day examples with contemporary weaponry. Point is that this idiocy is trotted out every time: "But what if our government turns despotic?"

Guys, then you'll be fucked either way. Because for that to happen your government will have broken down long before. You then will be subjected to either of two experiences: A bloody civil war or being trod on regardless. Usually with the help of your neighbours. We Germans have some experience with collaborators, after all, and "upstanding citizens" are usually a bit more rare than you guys think.

Everyone always says that they'll be a hero. History suggests otherwise.
