Are you daft? Control of the press and restriction of liberty is how fascism starts. Are you really going to sit here and declare that restricting the freedom of the press is not part of what a fascist government would do?

No, a populist authoritarian strong man riding into office on a wave of racial resentment and hyper-nationalism, who then begins demolishing democratic norms and actively persecuting minorities. What's going on the boarder and with ICE? That right there is how fascism starts.

Of course it is, but that doesn't mean that restricting the press is is unique to fascism or that it inevitably leads to fascism, and the motivation in this case hardly seems to point to the imminent coming of fascism in Germany.

Hell one of the first things the allies did at the end of the war was to shut down all media outlets owned by various branches of the Nazi party.
