Thread: A Simple Test

    Default A Simple Test

Honestly the entire thing is absurd. However it touches on something really important. Every statement that is made about a gender/race/ethnicity should still be applicable if the subjects race or gender changes. IF you can't make both statements because one 'sounds racist' then you have a problem on your hands.

Yeah, that problem is called context.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

"Con-text"? Sounds like a liberal trick

Context clearly matters however exceptions for gender and race are racist and sexist. However replacing the race with another and examining a statement against is revealing. Chanting "Black Power" is no different than chanting "White Power." Saying "White people shouldn't be taking acting roles from black people" is no different than saying "Black people shouldn't be taking acting roles from white people." To suggest otherwise is to embrace racism and believe we should treat people differently on the basis of race.

How did you manage to pick so many bad examples in one go?

What are you a racist? Oh wait if I recall correctly you support Affirmative Action, race based discrimination. So yeah not surprised.

Only a simpleton would use "A Simple Test" to define discrimination.

Lewk, we all know you like to simplify things by putting them in neat categories (black-or-white, eh)....but that simply won't work for complex human behaviors, at least not if you're interested in solving problems. That's why others reminded you that *context* matters.

According to scientific, demographic projections, WASP males will be a US *minority* group in the next 30-40 years. Probably within your own lifetime, but more importantly, to your son and future generations. We had a thread about that a few years back, might have been at the old Atari site, and I remember some posters (you?) were worried that would mean unacceptable "cultural changes". That's code white supremacists use to rationalize "Nationalism", you know.

Why do you think murder is okay when cops do it?

Lewk doesn't believe those killings count as murder because of context. If he is capable of making the distinction when it comes to murderous cops, he should be able to make similar distinctions in other matters.
