What this thread actually delivers is examples of white people losing their shit over trivial things and calling black people n*ggers as a result.

Really not enough information to go on. Does the manager have a tendency to specifically target people on racial grounds inappropriately? What is their % of being right when attempting to prevent shoplifting? People always get incredibly bent out of shape when an innocent person is accused however shoplifting is a massive problem. People have DIED because of shoplifting incidents. It really seems that Staples is playing the PR game here as opposed to giving the employee a fair shake.

50 fucking billion dollars. And to be honest I'd rather spend twice as much preventing it because people who shoplift are filthy parasites that bring society down. Police almost never expend resources dealing with shoplifters unless loss prevention apprehends the person for them. In this case the police officer felt there was enough probable cause to ask the woman to show her pregnancy.

Ignoring how incomprehensibly dumb and ignorant the rest of your post is, these two statements are verifiably false. 1) Police departments do follow up on theft, even on low cost items, without the store stopping the person. In fact it happens so much that people get upset concerning how much police time WalMart uses because of the police following up on theft cases and how those cases end in settlements rather than charges. 2) This officer was working for the store, that's OT and they are very much subject to the commands of the management. If management wants someone stopped and questioned that person is stopped. The officer's opinion and what he knows of the scenario is irrelevant. That's how his authority in these security gigs work. The management could have asked for a trespass just cause and the officer would have had to follow through. If officers don't follow management they lose their OT gigs and that's a big deal for a lot of them.

Like shooting a homeless man for stealing toothpaste?

....people who shoplift are filthy parasites that bring society down....
My sister stole some nail polish and panty hose when she was a teenager, with more than enough cash in her purse to pay for it. The store's security guard called the police and our parents, and the situation was "resolved" in the manager's office: no official charges, no police record. She was allowed to pay for the items and go home, with a severe scolding and a promise from our parents that she'd be "grounded" for a month or something.

Sure, shoplifting is a problem for all retailers, but not all shoplifters or "product loss" are treated equally. In my sister's case, she was a cute white girl from the suburbs, with parents that could drop everything and rush to the store. If she'd been black or brown, with parents that couldn't be reached or couldn't leave work, it would have ended differently. That was over 40 years ago, but not much has changed. Hello?

The solution isn't to treat black or brown criminals like your sister, its to treat your sister like any other criminal. Teach them a lesson, put it on their record. Not only will they think twice but their social circle will as well.

You only say that because you like the idea of a police state, not because you want any equal justice under the law.

Nothing like a criminal record to force someone to mend their ways...by being unable to get a decent job for the rest of their life.

What type of fucked up stalking does lewk partake in that he knows when people in his social circle have run ins with the police?

Oh yes, shoplifting on your record prevents you from getting any job anywhere. Please.

You have fuckers who literally get DUIs and kill people and play for the NFL. Obviously not everyone can get a NFL job but there are plenty of people with petty crimes on their record (ie not felonies) that find jobs. Hell people with felon records get jobs. With the Trump economy unemployment is really low.

Are you being serious Lewk? Obviously the above applies less to a handful of industries where talent is easily measurable and generates a huge amount of money. It also doesn't apply to people whose daddy is a CEO and can order HR to ignore its normal practices. But for a vast majority of jobs, a felony is a death sentence. A shoplifting conviction would make it difficult to even get a fast food job.

Not hiring convicted thieves who are required to declare their conviction being one of them. If you're going to trust people to handle cash you need to be able to trust them.

There's other jobs that don't entail handling large sums of money that make more sense for convicted thieves to do. Whether it be manual labour, shelf-stacking or whatever. Not cash handling.

How many construction jobs are going to hire women? Like I said, one felony and your chance at a middle class life is gone. Unless your parents are loaded. But children of those parents are never getting a felony conviction, even if they shoplift.

    Shoplifting isn't typically a felony.

A conviction spent is a conviction spent. Their debt to society is paid, and they should not have to continue paying it.

Which is why [in the UK] you do not need to declare spent convictions and it is illegal to ask for spent convictions. Apart from in limited proscribed public safety roles (IE teachers etc) that require a criminal records check but that doesn't apply to entry level fast food jobs.

Unspent convictions is another matter. If someone has an unspent conviction that can and should be asked about.

My job is one that requires a criminal records check in order to get my licence from the government and I can't have any convictions, if I get convicted of almost any crime I will lose my licence. My employees though aren't checked beyond asking about unspent convictions. I have hired people who have declared unspent convictions which didn't seem relevant to the role.

"A New York woman admitted she fabricated her story to police claiming a group of teens shouted “Trump 2016” at her and left the note “Go Home” after slashing her tires, police said.

Adwoa Lewis, 19, was arrested and charged with making a false punishable written statement following an “extensive investigation” into her claims she made earlier this month, Nassau County police said Saturday."

Don't automatically believe someone when they claim to be a victim of something. (And yes the Right did it too with that stupid person who slashed her face in a mirror). When political stakes are high always be wary of accusations that can't be proven with physical evidence.

"Charges against four California dentists -- including three brothers -- accused of kidnapping and sexually assaulting a woman at a Las Vegas Strip resort were dropped after cellphone video showed the allegations were "completely fabricated," one of the men's attorney said.

Prosecutors dropped the charges against Poria Edalat, 30, Saman Edalat, 39, Sina Edalat, 34, and Ali Badkoobehi, 30, after the defendants presented the video to the district attorney’s office, KVVU-TV reported.
