Default I bet Khen thinks 8 years is too harsh

"A failed asylum seeker has been jailed by a German court for eight-and-a-half years for stabbing his 15-year-old ex-girlfriend to death after she broke up with him.

The defendant, identified only as Abdul Mobin D due to German privacy laws, received a jail term by a juvenile court in the western town of Landau today.

The verdict came a week after violent anti-immigrant protests erupted in the eastern city of Chemnitz over the fatal stabbing of a German national, allegedly by a Syrian and an Iraqi.

Abdul Mobin D admitted in court to stabbing the girl, identified only as Mia V, at a drugstore in the town of Kandel on December 27 last year.

he attacker was overpowered by witnesses who restrained him until police officers arrived.

Prosecutors believe Abdul Mobin D, who claimed to be from Afghanistan, acted out of jealousy after the girl broke up with him.

Besides his nationality, doubts were raised about his age, which he said was 15 at the time of the crime.

An expert estimated his age the be between 17 and a half and 20 but, given the uncertainty, the proceedings were held behind closed doors and under juvenile penal rules."

Oh Germany, its sad that citizens are suffering for their government's mistakes. But to compound it by letting this piece of shit walk after 8 years? Disgusting.

German citizens are largely better off than they have ever been. German courts continue to apply German laws according to German standards.

Remind me last time you did one of these about Americans suffering from mass shootings? You know, the thing that kills far more Americans than terrorists kill Germans.

You think he cares about the victim? Don't make me laugh. These were the only words Lewk cared about

From 2008 - 2016 the US suffered 115 right wing extremist attacks, including 79 deaths, from people like Lewk.
From the same time period Germany experienced 7(?) Islamist attacks, including 18 deaths (12 from the truck attack in berlin).

A normal person would be more concerned with the damage he is contributing to at home.

But those are not comparable because only one version involves Muslims. Very important because there are millions of them in each of our societies.

"In dubio pro reo". That's the maxim which was followed in that case pertaining whether he would be tried under juvenile or adult law. The former allows for a maximum jail time of ten years.

<Devil's Advocate> Pro-rata'd 18 German deaths is comparable to 79 American deaths due to population size differences. Including France etc would dramatically change that ratio. </Devil's Advocate>

Of course Lewk values American lives more than German lives so if it weren't for the race issue he wouldn't be bothered.

Ten years is a light maximum for murder, should be life.

However even granting that why would the sentence be 8 and not 10?

Former means juvenile. If he'd meant adult he'd write latter.

Because he confessed at the start of the trial.
