Default Racism and Tea Partiers Part Deux

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGqPo5ofk0s

Los Angeles HS teacher Ron Gochez talks about how he is in "Stolen, occupied Mexico" where other Latin Americans must honor Fidel Castro and further "Communist Revolution" against the "frail, racist white people". It makes sense after all, he is the "Northern Front of Latin Revolution...40 million revolutionaries in the belly of the beast."

This video is apparently a few years old, but suddenly surfacing again because the guy is still active and immigration is heating up again as a US political issue. You can find him all over the place online in the LA-area La Raza.

My point is this: It seems sorta silly to wring hands at whether the "Tea Partiers" are "racist" because some rallies have racist signs and a few idiots in the crowd, when there are actual racists speaking at rallies and generating applause.

You don't see the difference between some fringe idiots that are being ignored and fringe idiots that are being fêted by a major political party?
    Congratulations America

  3. #3
Except the Tea Partiers (who are hard to define) aren't fringe idiots. They have people in the crowds who sometimes say improper things. Those people aren't invited to the podium.

  4. #4
The vast majority of Tea Party folks are not racist. In fact there is a good chance that several of the the party events have had liberals deliberately make them look bad by creating those signs and pretending to be a tea party supporter.

Vast left wing conspiracy, huh Lewk.

Loonie classroom teacher embraces left-wing ideals

    Nullifies Sarah Palin

    Crowds rejoice

    Whoops, wasn't quite that simple

    Can you see why, Dread

Can you see why the money-hoarding, political big-wig Rightist lunatics are abjectly terrifying when they make noises, and a silly school teacher is a silly teacher?

    No? Alright then.
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

So you used youtube to revive an old video to prove what....?

    A teacher, singular? Meh.

Teachers, plural? Contrasted to Pubbie horrors like Palin and the old white men behind her? Please.

I like how the guy simultaneously voices support for communism and Mexican nationalism. These national socialists are amusing.

I wish you would cease using that term

Then maybe these people should stop being national socialists.

Well, it's clearly unfair. They really should hang the other 99 too.

How is Palin scary? She has no power and never will again.

This hinges on the idea that a noticeable segment of the population has no power, either; fine and well by itself, but not exactly the kind of message one'd expect from the faggot liberation front

Oh, so now we're not talking about Palin again, but every member of the Tea Party in aggregate. Where again you have to face the fact that as a group, none of the things they can manage to present coherently is particularly objectionable. At that level, it's still amounting to "rein in spending" with lots of white noise in the background. Pick your poison, Nessus. If you want to focus on them as having grassroots power, then you have to look analyze 'em as a movement and not as individuals. If you want to look at high-profile "voices", then those spokespeople have to actually be able to accomplish something besides making money on the talking circuit. Right now, you've got nothing to go on but "I'm aware of something I don't like" to justify the label "scary" and that sort of superficial approach is GGT's forte. Visibility by itself is meaningless.

The average high schooler is more likely to be influenced by their teacher than Sarah Palin. Almost all of my pre-college teachers were fairly to very left wing, but they at least kept it mostly to themselves. Though they still influenced me and everyone around me.

Dread doesn't want to comment on the properness of hanging a Senator?

    dang

I was really speaking about racism, not all over-the-top statements.

But, as I've said before, the Tea Party is disparate. A group of people having a rally and calling themselves "Tea Partiers" to say over the top stuff doesn't mean they speak for an entire disparate movement.

Unlike La Raza, which is comparatively organized and clearly hasn't pushed this guy away. Over time, the Tea Partiers will get more organized and there won't be fun one-offs where some guy makes a remark like that about Lindsey Graham. And then — as now — you won't see real, hard-line racists at the podiums of large and organized Tea Party rallies. Just like we haven't really seen at any major organized Tea Party rallies to date.

The "Tea Party/Opposition to Obama = Racism" is increasingly becoming a media campaign based no innuendo and what people allegedly say in the crowds at loosely-connected rallies. It's BS, and is far less substantial than high school teachers who spend their free time speaking at La Raza rallies about colonizing the US and taking it away from "frail, white racists".

besides, since when was homophobia and calls for violence against politicians (or anyone) simply "over-the-top"?

and haven't we touched on the subject of how these "few idiots" are allowed to run wild; can these people not police themselves at their own gatherings?

Do you want to comment on how you've stated that anyone who opposes universal healthcare should be deported? That's pretty fucking extreme, and unAmerican too, and I know you've said it, and believe it, since I read a Democrat saying that very thing on the DailyKOS.

Was that too subtle for you, or are you grasping the point yet?

Once again Ominous, random groups of people vs. people on a podium endorsed by a group.

So because some idiots may have said something to someone in a wheelchair, we should keep borrowing unsustainable amounts of money? It's an immature way to engage in politics, and (going back to my earlier point) flies in the face of actual groups with actual structures having people say stuff like calling the US "occupied Mexico".

You're trying to convince OG that conservatives aren't the spawn of Satan and trying to get him to be consistent at the same time? Good luck.
