    The same type of abuses are presumably a concern no matter which western country the prospective parents are from. This is a sensitive issue of great personal significance to many, and I have no strong opinions either way, but it might be worth discussing, or—at least—worth thinking about.

    I agree. I don't want to belittle the experiences of those concerned. But I feel like this investigations is yet another one of the type of hatchet jobs the Dutch are good at; setting some unrealistic norm for prudence, then look for someone to blame. And while doing that have no regard for the fact that things actually were different back then.
