    Default "Cancel Culture isn't Real"

Based on the screenshot, Isak waged a social media campaign against the sisters, posting more than a hundred messages slamming them as racists and calling on people to message the sisters’ employers and get them fired. Her followers picked up the cause, as did a handful of media outlets.

“So Shania is behind one of the videos & in school to become a teacher,” said one of Isak’s posts, documented in the court ruling. “Y’all really want her teaching our black babies? Email the @uottawa.”

“Don’t be shy, attack some more,” said another one. “YOU AND YOUR GIRLFRIEND MAKE A VERY UGLY COUPLE. LETS GET HIM TOO GUYS.”

“We are almost there guys!!! TAG [the Ottawa Catholic School Board] in the recent post. DM THEM!! Let them know you refuse to have her in the same room as our black youth,” said another.

    And...

It was no use; the consequences came fast and furious. Shania was immediately fired from her part-time job at the Boston Pizza in Ottawa’s Orleans neighbourhood, where she had worked for five years. “This type of rhetoric absolutely does not represent the entire restaurant’s values and culture,” said a Boston Pizza representative, quoted in the Toronto Star.

Shania was also due to start work with the Ottawa Catholic School Board in the fall, but that offer was rescinded.

Justine was a casual worker with the Canada Border Services Agency, hoping to be taken on permanently. The CBSA posted a notice saying they were investigating the video, then subsequently announced Justine was no longer working for them. The court ruling says the CBSA also revoked an offer of permanent employment to Justine. Later, she was rejected by the RCMP due to a “character check” that she believes must be referencing the screenshot, given she has a clean record otherwise."

Unfortunately even with the win in court there's no real justice because the little clout chasing piece of shit has no assets to pay for it. And it looks like neither of the employment opportunities are being revisited. Gross and disgusting. What's also disgusting is the ugly bigoted racism displayed by the defendants attorney as well.

"“I believe Ms. Isak was free to view the act complained of as racist and that she ought to have been free to express it,” he said. “I disagree that a white judge should be telling Ms. Isak or any other Black person what is and is not racism.”"

    Clown world.

Now do one about all the people getting countless death threats because they were slandered by Tucker Carlson or one of his far right friends.
Hope is the denial of reality

You'll have to give some examples, and you do realize there is a difference between saying a politician shouldn't have done something that is related to policy and some rando who posted a clip on their snap. Right?

It does sound like you agree with my central point that the people who say "cancel culture isn't real" are absolutely wrong, you just believe many parties engage in it.

Those rose tinted glasses getting in the way again? False accusations resulting in threats has its own phrase now, called the Tucker Carlson Effect. Some of the people have even gotten armed security from their employers because of his segments.

Everyone remember when lewk started out blaming the left for cancel culture till he was reminded that conservatives have abused and honed it for centuries? Now he is on the "both parties are the same" bullshit.
"In a field where an overlooked bug could cost millions, you want people who will speak their minds, even if they’re sometimes obnoxious about it."

That sort of a thing isn't a problem because it would never get used on Lewk. The kind of "cancel culture" he's afraid of is that kind where people might be able to link his real identity and the outrageous things he says online and those damn libruls might start communicating with HIS employer.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"
