Default Trump Indicted March 30, 2023

A Manhattan grand jury has decided to wage war with America! Good on them. May the best man win.

If hindsight is 20-20, why is it so often ignored?

Oh thank god, I was trying to come to terms with Bragg still being just another coward given all the reporting saying the grand jury wouldn't vote on indictment until late April.

A guy who won't prosecute people for jumping turnstiles is prosecuting a former president who has probably done worse things than a misdemeanor accounting issue.

The payoff itself was more than a "misdemeanor accounting" thing. But the reports were for 30 counts. Knowing how he's been, and how these things tend to go, I would guess most of the others are variations on a theme of felony obstruction.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

Just like Al Capone went to jail for tax evasion.
Hope is the denial of reality

It's still a bit of a moment of history, even if mister Trump gets brought down for paying a porn actress for spanking him. We know that Richard Nixon, who did nothing wrong, did a bit of a treason and no one prosecuted him, because presidents are special.
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

As did Reagan (with Iran). But he did want to ban flag burning, so it's ok!

34 counts of falsifying records, and that "misdemeanor accounting issue" was elevated to a felony by being used to conceal other crimes. It also had national consequences as it was done to influence an election. And yes, he's done far worse things, his list of crimes is quite extensive. He should be prosecuted for every single one of them. Fingers crossed for more indictments this month!

I am amused by this meme of it being brought solely for political reasons when Bragg went to a grand jury, a prosecutor's traditional means of insulating themselves from criticism of prosecutorial discretion to not prosecute by saying "oh well, it wasn't me, it was a jury decision, the expressed will of the people"

Is this politically-motivated? Of course. It has to be by definition since the crime was a political one. Misuse of campaign funds, in an attempt to to hide politically damaging information from the electorate during a campaign season.

DA Alvin Bragg filed a lawsuit against Jim Jordan over unconstitutional interference in Trump indictment

I think Jordan was making a mistake subpoenaing Pomerantz, who quit the DA's office over their refusal to prosecute Trump's real estate valuation lies. As much as I'd like seeing the traitor and criminal Jim Jordan getting slapped by the courts, I can't help but be suspicious that Bragg has some other motives.
