I cannot overemphasize how fucking bonkers this looks from the outside:

Literally hundreds of cops apparently getting away with lying in a professional capacity while yielding significant institutional and physical power over ordinary citizens' freedom—indeed, their very lives. Imagine being a member of such a thoroughly disgraced, comically crooked corps. How do the handful of normal, honest, hard-working cops that (I presume) remain in this profession handle the shame? What drives them to stand up for the crooks in their midst? If any of you have cops among your friends & family, can you ask how they feel about these recurring scandals?
