Default Pixel Hunt (or: RIP your privacy)

Can't remember whether or not I posted abt this when the original story broke, but the congressional report on the issue of tax prep companies leaking private info to Meta and Google is now in:

    https://themarkup.org/pixel-hunt/202...taxpayers-data

Haven't read it yet, so I dunno if they look at other kinds of private info. But RIP your privacy

The story is hard to parse here...and the Congressional report doesn't help clarify much.

Elizabeth Warren (Socialist, MA) is saying that the use of common analytics tools on tax prep sites might be illegal? The report itself acknowledges that there's no legal precedent for this being illegal. It's just trying to gin-up harblegarble to push for a national socialized tax prep service.

It's not that difficult to parse if you read the linked story.

Fine the outrage is difficult to justify.

Is "OMG analytics software!" really something that works on people?

Bernie is a socialist. Warren is a progressive. And what Warren said is their negligent handling of data allowing those parts that were supposed to be kept confidential to be transmitted through the analytics software was illegal.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"
