If it's international in scope, than law enforcement is mostly ineffective. Among other things, it is almost completely incapable of preventative measures. This is deliberate design. If you actually want to do anything about international terrorism besides dealing with the aftermath, you cannot treat it as primarily a law-enforcement matter.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

    The Rules
Copper- behave toward others to elicit treatment you would like (the manipulative rule)
Gold- treat others how you would like them to treat you (the self regard rule)
Platinum - treat others the way they would like to be treated (the PC rule)

invading countries isn't particularly effective either. And the costs are darn high.

Are you actually going to respond to either criticism?
Hope is the denial of reality

Even if they didn't kill more, the desired outcome, terror, is greater. Nothing more gut-wrenching than the kind of insanity that causes somebody to blow themselves up in a cafe. It's quite unnerving. And that's the goal.

You're kidding, right? So we need to send the Untouchables in and have Kevin Costner treat us to his flat dialog?

It's not like bin Laden shop lifted. There really was no other choice; IMO it was by far the best-justified US military action since WWII. The only problem was that it was spectacularly poorly executed. That was what turned me against Bush. When they started pitching Iraq, I realized what horse shit they were peddling. There were other reasons to despise Bush later, but how he managed Afghanistan from the get go was almost criminal in its negligence.

But going in was the right thing. Don't pull this liberal "no war, ever" shit. The world is not a kindergarten class.

No other choice, how imaginative of you. Since war was our only choice and since we are clearly failing in the war's every objective, what now genius? Nuke 'em all?!? Do we give up, surrender to AQ since the war was the only option we had? If not to believe it, you should know such emphatic, narrow minded absolutes are idiotic to claim in an argument. I just wish GW didn't have your same level of mental capacity when he was concluding there were no other choices.

But the world is not a kindergarten class! Dont you see, dumdum? By advocating a solution other than war, you are highlighting just how much you think the world is a kindergarten class!

Because real grown ups, who can offer a proper, clear eyed analysis of events, always adopt war as their conclusions. Remember, its not a kindergarten class.
"Son," he said without preamble, "never trust a man who doesn't drink, because he's probably a self-righteous sort, a man who thinks he knows right from wrong all the time. Some of them are good men, but in the name of goodness, they cause most of the suffering in the world. They're the judges, the meddlers. And, son, never trust a man who drinks but refuses to get drunk. They're usually afraid of something deep down inside, either that they're a coward or a fool or mean and violent. You can't trust a man who's afraid of himself. But sometimes, son, you can trust a man who occasionally kneels before a toilet. The chances are that he is learning something about humility and his natural human foolishness, about how to survive himself. It's damned hard for a man to take himself too seriously when he's heaving his guts into a dirty toilet bowl.

Since you're the one with an imagination, perhaps you can answer the two criticisms above?
