Should Kavanaugh be confirmed for SCOTUS?

One of the biggest scandals in recent years in this country was the case of the Rotherham child abuse ring which led to the abuse of over 1400 girls over a decade. Many of these girls reported their abuse to the authorities independently but the authorities failed to act or to believe the girls reporting the attacks and so the abuse wasn't stopped for a long time. An investigation afterwards found a lot of independent accusations from victims which hadn't been followed up on or investigated as the girls weren't believed. :(

Nothing. Just like if I accused you of rape there is little I could type or say that one make anyone believe me. Nor should the standard for evidence be the accuser's word. That shouldn't fly in the regular world and if the person is being nominated or running for election people should be ten times as wary about believing it. We know people kill, lie, extort and bribe to see their political beliefs carried forward, people should always be cautious when it comes to these sorts of things.

Sure, sometimes people might say "independent accusation" as short hand for "accusations of independent crimes", but if you're going to use it as proof of guilt the accusations need to themselves be independent.

Cosby's independent accusations did mostly sorta wait to be known until a judge ruled him a public moralist thanks to his pound cake speech. As hazir said earlier, if you're going to hold a position that is beyond reproach, you need to actually be beyond reproach. There is something about that that helps people find the voice they need to speak up.

Given that Kavanaugh was nowhere near being a SCOTUS candidate at the time I think it's fair to dismiss out of hand the insinuations about her timing being suspicious and indicating falsity. I'm curious why we didn't see this much bullshit from lewk against all the men that accused those priests of inappropriate behavior that happened 30 years ago.

I despise Avenatti, but this is a sworn statement from his now named client, made under penalty of perjury. The Senate must give it due consideration and, more importantly, the FBI must be called to assist in the investigation.

Yes sure. Did you only here of sexual abuse today.? This tragically happens far too often, especially to vulnerable young women, but not only women. The victim wants to be accepted by her social group but is ashamed and believes they are somehow responsible for the attack that happened to them. They suffer in silence and don't report it to anyone.
