It's not illegal to gamble online. Only certain forms of gambling are illegal. This, for instance, (gambling fake money bought with real money inside of a game) isn't illegal because most of the congressmen don't have a clue about new technology...
The problem with that approach is it still leaves the business open to racketeering and RICO charges, and that approach typically doesn't hold up in court. (It's been tried before.)
Maybe has more to do with the current nature of our joke of a criminal "justice" system, where the government can levy charges against any behavior it doesn't like, whether it's actually prohibited in the legal code or not (and this is the primary usage of the racketeering statutes - they have been repeatedly, successfully used against business enterprises that are not explicitly illegal, but rub someone in government the wrong way), but still... it's not "really" legal and it's not going to work.
If "This" gets big, like online poker did, the government will swoop in, seize all the monies (for our protection, of course), slap RICO and racketeering charges on the businesses and that will be the end of it, like happened to online poker. Fucking government. Time to hang them all for treason and start fresh, says I.

Hmm, we appear to have different ideas about motivations. I'm a free market guy. I'm of the opinion that people will act lazy and stupid if it doesn't matter otherwise (cost/benefit analysis)... (eg: government officials)
So reconcile that belief with the US DOJ actions that completely shut down online poker playing in the US.
(The answer is that it *is* in the self interest of these government officials to do so, and on many different levels and for many different reasons, the most direct and obvious being that they profited to the tune of tens of billions of dollars just by seizing assets involved in online poker, natch.)

I have heard of it and it was funny. Though, I just hope that gambling be stopped.

Right, which is why traffic tickets don't exist, because the copfficers issuing them don't get to claim the fine amount.
