Thread: What game are you playing now?

So they released the game and then went home? Like, The Game

And homes without phones and internet access and a browser that handles basic html? the person posting on twitter can only post on twitter? And only on European Internets? a PR person can't be registered on more than one account on the internet?

I don't know, as soon as I got home on the night of release day it was already working perfectly. I've don't know but have asked a few times but never seen any reply or acknowledgement, how long was it down for?

And Europeans can't read the updates on the US forums/Twitter etc? Forums are generally great for user-user interaction, not user-staff interaction. Sounds like the company got the info out there in two means (Twitter and the US forums) and the EU users could both read that and that info inevitably and quickly filtered to the EU forums, and then the issue was fixed. So besides bruised egos just what precisely is the big deal?

Personally I think a solution would be to abolish the European forums

    http://www.cracked.com/blog/5-reason...noying-future/

Cracks usual style, but its got some good points in there. talks about the restrictions to SP, the down time, Diablo crashing the other games, the errors, etc

    My copy was just delivered

Got my copy installed. The animation direction is leaving me a little unfulfilled. So far I've seen more sketches that reminds me of Sims Medieval, and only 1 short scene that reminds me of the great Blizzard CGI from Diablo II and Warcraft III. So far this feels like a single player game, no true chatroom or anything at all like D2 in that aspect. I don't even know how to create a game with a custom name that friends would find.

Granted I've only played for 5 minutes so far, so I may not even be beyond the intro part of the game teaching me how to play.

    Finished.

Playing as Monk. Took 21hrs, 37 mins play time, exploring everything and not rushing.

    Spoiler:
    Level 31 upon finishing.

You then start from the very beginning of the story, back in New Tristram, but at Nightmare difficulty, at your current level, and with all your current gear and abilities.

Li'l bit underwhelmed. But then I was never a big fan of the dungeon-crawlers. I didn't even bother with Diablo II.

Got my first error this morning, error 3007, after I dumped a bunch of useless stuff from my inventory while crypt diving. It saved all my items, but I lost all of my progress in that area. Which means I'm starting over looking for the crown.

I've gotten error 3007 every time I've played. This is getting extremely annoying, most of the time I can't finish a quest before their fucked up servers kick me all the way out. I don't have any other games that do this, I don't have internet troubles while browsing or using netflix. This is a blizzard problem, this is an always connected DRM problem.

Servers are down again. Another annoyance: The news screen upon launching the game does not include any timestamps.

Which means that an announcement like "The servers will be down for an hour." has no reference point as to when exactly the servers will be down or up again. Because you don't know when this announcement was made.

3007 booted me again, then the game locked up at the welcome screen

Diablo 3 has been giving me far fewer troubles as of late. Not sure yet if I'm liking the new skill sets and item properties compared to Diablo II. D3 seems to make it all far more complicated than it needs to be, while giving you some of the least important information up front and the important info hidden under details.
Of course, this is Diablo, so I'm not yet into the "real" game. I'm still on Normal. Then I have Nightmare. Then maybe I can play real Diablo.

Elsewhere, Disciples II is currently free over at GMG.

Odd, my complaint has been that D3 feels more simplistic than D2. I'm hoping expansions will clear that right up.

  15. #2055
Oh, no doubt on that. I think I expressed my opinion in the wrong way. D3 is much more of a button masher than d2 was. equip a strong weapon and left click, right click, and randomly press 1-4. They seem to be covering that up by throwing up a bunch of information on the screen. making it seem more complicated than it is. The multiple damage amounts for weapons for example. All these auto popups get in the way when you're dicking around in the inventory. The stuff that we used to make builds around is now hidden under the details button.

Wait are you saying DII wasn't a click-fest?

D2 required strategy. Even on normal. skills were impacted by weapon speed, resistences meant something. In D2 you couldn't take a barb that only focuses on the highest weapon damage and solo tank the Act II boss without moving, which is what I just did last night in D3.

Been playing last few days Diablo with my Laptop connected to my TV. Never really played games on the TV with my Laptop before, but got to say that it works well on the big screen

So, Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning is officially considered a failure. Selling less than half of what was required for the game to break even, it did so bad that the development studio laid off everyone overnight.

And nearly bankrupted Rhode Island in the process.

So the control scheme still isn't adjustable enough for me to try and avoid the feeling I'm giving myself a repetitive-motion injury?
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"

Civilization 5 is free on Steam until tomorrow if anyone cares. I think I'm going to pass on it.

So, my addiction to Skyrim is waning, as I have done most everything in the game. I've not played any other Elder Scrolls games; any thoughts on Morrowind or Oblivion? I'm also thinking of getting them on console if available, so hubby can have his computer back

I think there's some major improvements in the control system between D2 and D3. One improvement (from D2 from memory) is that you don't need to click on gold or health globes just walk near it in order to pick it up - a lot less mindless clicking.

Personally playing my first run-through as a wizard currently on the second act I've needed to think on what skills to use, where to stand etc especially against bosses. I've died a few times - perhaps playing as a tank is different ballgame.

    Go for the eyes, Boo!
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.

Never played Morrowind (though I have bought it, its still sealed), have played Oblivion. If you liked Skyrim you'd probably like those and can pick them up quite cheap. Advantage of Oblivion is that although its old, its the same generation of console though its still got good graphics etc

    Alternatively,

When the injustice is great enough, Justice will lend me the strength needed to correct it. None may stand against it. It will shatter every barrier, sunder any shield, tear through any enchantment and lend its servant the power to pass sentence. Know this: there is nothing on all the Planes that can stay the hand of justice when it is brought against them. It may unmake armies. It may sunder the thrones of gods. Know that for ALL who betray Justice, I am their fate... and fate carries an Executioner's Axe.

No, you do NOT see. Pray you NEVER will.
