    Well, we can discuss motivations and excuses (personally, I think Theon's background and conflicts actually make him worse - he should know better.     Theon is messed up, but he didn't seem to act beyond how you would expect an overthrower to act when his power is threatened.

    Joffrey enjoys what he does, he brags about it, he shows it off with pride. I'd say some scenes between him and Sansa (in the books at least) outweigh a few murders.

    Had to look up Gregor Clegane. I only knew him as "The Mountain". He could be in the running, if he's not in it's probably only because we don't see him as often as Joffrey.

    What weighs more to me is that Joffrey enjoys it, but Theon regrets it. Theon believes he's doing terrible things for good reasons, Joffrey believes he's doing terrible things because lol.

    Checkout what Theon thinks of as 'good reasons' though, the whole Iron Islander ethos is utterly reprehensible.

    Joffrey thinks he can do what he likes because he's king, Theon thinks he can do what he likes because we do not sow lol. I agree that Joffrery actually enjoys hurting people (even his mum thinks so), this would be a tie breaker if they were equal on crimes against humanity, however currently Theon is running a little ahead.

    Don't have cable so I haven't gotten season 2 yet. Joffrey is defined heavily by how he interacts with Sansa, I doubt they would leave all of it out, but I figured I'd add a warning anyway.

    I'm 600 pages into the 3rd book, the only time he has popped up is when he got one last dig at Sansa

    For those who don't have the Season 1 Blu Ray, these are the complete guide to westeros animations http://www.youtube.com/user/SunMarquise which are really rather well done and fill in much of the backstory. We also discovery that Viserys Targaryan, despite being an abusive, power hungry psychopath only excluded from the biggest cunt in westeros discussion by virtue of being a) dead and b) not in Westeros, would have made an excellent pre-school teacher.

    Was wondering how they were going to pull that off, mentioned it in the book thread, but book 3 has very different writing style than the first 2. Its got a faster pace and a lot more shit going on.

    They sell the stories in several different ways now, but I'm not aware of them breaking up A Storm of Swords. I know after he wrote that one he promised the next books wouldn't be as long, so book 4 and 5 happen at the same time, but cover different regions and people.

    Wonder how they broke it up, if they simply cut the book in half, or if they rearranged the chapters as the subtitles suggest. But yeah, its to thick to survive as a standard paperback. The larger sized softbound copies the library has all look like shit.

    Theon was raised by one of the noblest men int he kingdoms and given a place of honor at the side of the King of the North. His betrayal makes his actions worse IMO.

    Theon was raised essentially as a Prisoner of War (although well treated, that's how he got there to the court of the man who'd killed his brothers). Can partially understand his conflict.

    I just found out that this last episode was the season finale. That means I have to wait another year for more. There is no god.

    Didn't really feel like a finale, though it'd be pretty hard to top the awesomeness that was last week's episode. I'm hoping Tyrion losing his status doesn't mean we won't get to watch him pimp-slap Joffrey anymore - that was always a high point of any episode it happened.

    More of an epilogue and prologue for the next season than a finale, which was effectively Blackwater. I read somewhere that Storm of Swords is so long that not only did they have to do it in two seasons, but some of the Storm of Swords events were depicted in this episode also.

    So was Pyat Pree basically just the only warlock or something?


    I decided I'd wait for the entire series before reading the books. We'll see if I can last an entire year.

    There are more in the books, but from what I've seen with the TV wiki, most of Pyat Pree's story, the theft, the coup... thats all HBO storytelling.

    There can't be many series (book originally or TV now too) like it where so many major characters regularly die.

    Its not the amount, or major charactors being killed off that makes this series unique. Its that the characters the readers are most likely to relate to, cheer for, and understand best are the ones that get killed off. The characters that are easiest to understand; loyal, honorable, etc, are by nature the easiest ones to gravitate towards, and for Mr. Martin the ones he likes to knock off to keep controversy and interest up. Its the complicated characters that he wants people to be forced into tackling mentally.

    Just watched season 1 and 2 in the span of about 2 weeks and I very much enjoyed it. I like the dwarf and I was disappointed to see his rise to power cut short in the end of season 2. Anyone see The Station Agent?

    Also - I could have sworn The Hound left with Lady Stark during the King's Landing battle. How is it she ended up staying??? Anyone else confused by that? I like him by the way - very strong sense of chivalry and duty. Just because his face is burned, doesn't mean he's bad.
