What advantage do we get from the surrounding regions being in our borders then?
Firstly, if you have any special object within your influence (such as one of those experience +10% things), it applies to all cities that are in the same contiguous sphere of influence. Second, whenever your hero is traveling somewhere, he periodically does a "halt", which means he just freezes somewhere for several hours. There are no halts on territory within yours or your allies' sphere of influence.

The first game required too much micro-management and was too stressful (you could get attacked at any moment, frequently by someone much, much stronger than you). Neither is a problem here. If anything, the problem in this game is that it gets too slow at times.

It looks like there's a feature in the game that lets you give somebody else in your alliance control over your stuff. That should help you out. Though with the way this game is paced, you probably wouldn't be hurt too badly by just not playing for a while.
Anyone have any idea how spells work? I'm a bit confused how summoning works in combat...

I am second on his aggro list already, and I'm not so big yet. It's one square from my city, I imagine that my size will make him aggressive towards me quickly!

I have 3 cities, and have finally conquered all squares in all 3 cities. What can I do to get my 4th city, since I can't fight anything?
Do I just sit back, keep recruiting armies in all 3, upgrading mines, and building buildings?
I guess I need the next stage in all 3 ranking components to get to the next stage: Domination, Wealth, & Honour?
In which case, how do I increase Honour without fighting, or is there another element to Honour apart from fighting?

Ugh, rambling post, apologies ...
tl;dr:
1. Is there anything else to fight once all squares in all cities have been taken?
2. To get to next city level, do I need next stage in all 3 of Domination, Wealth, & Honour?
3. I though Honour could only be increased by fighting - is this true?
4. If so, what do I fight now to increase Honour?
5. Anything else I should consider in order to get to next city level?
1/2 A) You're fairly close to level 4 in wealth. Once you hit that, you can settle your fourth city (if you're subscribed). You only need to get to level x in any ranking to get city x.
B) There are no rifts near you now, but there will be soon enough. Once they open up and your newbie protection expires (you get it for 2 weeks), you can attack those rifts for experience. You can attack the one at 148, 7 once your protection expires, assuming you have the power to beat it.
C) If your army is at least 200k in power (you could earlier, but you won't do much damage), you can build a vestige within your city limits (you click on an empty tile in one of your cities; a vestige is the bottom right option). Attack the monsters within the vestige ad nauseum. You can build a new vestige every other day (once a day if you're subscribed).
D) Once you're much more powerful, we can all try to take down runic fortresses and other places that are usually guarded by armies with several million in power.
3/4. Yes, honor only goes up from fighting (also from using the hermit structure that you can build, but it's not very cost-effective at this point).
5. Keep on building your mines (at least to level 6), build creature dwellings, and make sure you have a steady source of all needed resources.
