London Meet
Did this end up happening last time?I know there are a few Brits here, but I don't know which part of the wasteland you guys hail from. I'm staying in Bromley for anywhere from the next 3-7 weeks, so if anyone wants to drink some milk with cookies, I'm game.
I'm going to recommend London for the meet because it's easiest to get there.

Yep, am up for a meet ...
Most of the Brits that were interested have disappeared tho ... was arranging to meet Spawnie in Wimbledon as he lives nearby in Earlsfield, but then he hasn't been around in ages. Gogo was keen too but same for him.
That leaves Rand, who's up in Warrington, and Decoy, who is around Reading somewhere.

Wow, I was right next to that station half an hour ago. I'm about a 15-20 minute walk from there, right near the Shortlands Station.
Rand's on vacation for now, so I don't want to set any firm dates until he's back.

I doubt I could make London to be honest. Its a long way to travel and since I've just taken my time off would be kind of awkward currently.

How goddam weird. If you were there around lunchtime, I might have strolled right past you, as I went up the high street for a bit of shopping.
Not eaten there yet though. There are some awful, chavvy, kebab type outlets and greasy spoons around there. The Urban Kitchen looks like a better choice of eat ...
Bromley is pretty rundown innit. Shortlands looks much nicer. More leafy. I park near Shortlands and walk to work. Closest I can get free street parking ...
My fiancee likes falafel, so if you have any recommendation for a greasy place that serves that dish, it'd be much appreciated.
We were the only people in the Urban Kitchen without a suit; I assume it's where business people get lunch. The prices are pretty damn cheap though. Might want to stay away from the wraps, as they're quite small.
There's a huge hill between Shortlands and the high street (especially if you take the "shortcut" through the park). Not fun climbing that. I think it's how God tries to separate the people from the two areas.

Hummm .. for falafelly hummus type eats you're in the wrong part of town - you'd wanna head up to the bohemian stalls around Camden, or the upmarket areas of Kensington, Chelsea or Notting Hill.
Or for somewhere a bit more ... south of the river ... you could try the lively, spicy, bustling food village in Brixton. Excellent li'l cafes, food stalls and casual but tasty eateries there. Train from Bromley South is only ~ 15 mins. Went two weekends ago and had Cajun food in a quirky li'l joint (voodoo skulls & memorabilia all over the walls) before strolling round Brixton market. Very Caribbean there - interesting part of town.
South London gets so much less press and attention than the North ... am only recently discovering all that's here.
Bromley though, you're kinda stuck with all your fatty, unhealthy, fast-foody cholesterol type places that cater to your chavvy classes, Urban Kitchen notwithstanding. Have only been working here for last 5 weeks though so have hardly ventured far.

If you wanna meet up for a beer or two after work some day next week or week after if you're kicking around without much to do - let me know - we can banter away about stuff, foody or otherwise.

We usually eat out right after gym, so going to Brixton is a bit time-consuming.
Some time next week sounds good. I'll have a better idea of what I'm doing next week by this weekend; we can confirm then.

From my time in Hamburg, I'd propose that you should set it on the type of rain:
Drizzle, gusts, sleet, heavy rain, flood and that nasty type of rain during a medium storm which seems to come from every direction at once.
As we Northern Germans use to say: "There's no bad weather. There's only the wrong type of clothes."

If a London Meet could be organised for a little bit later in the year then with some notice I could make it. Probably August or so would be best, I'd need at least months notice right now. If anyone's ever up in the North-West then it'd be a lot easier for me if anybody would like to meet in the Liverpool/Manchester etc area.

Don't use IRC but Congratulations anyway. Sure the visa will get resolved. Went to a wedding a few years ago (time we met was reason I was over there) that was between a uni friend (Brit) and a NY Stater (not NYC) whom he met online.
So are you moving to the UK or she to the USA?
