Thread: What game are you playing now?

I thought the Mako was more hilarious than awful. Except that time I lost 30 minutes worth of play because the damn thing drove into and up a vertical wall, then got stuck parallel to it on the geometry. Couldn't get out of it because it wasn't "stopped" and it wouldn't self-right because it wasn't upside-down.

Combat was pretty hilarious though. I played as a Vanguard with Ashley, and Liara on my team. There was nothing except for bosses that liberal uses of a shotgun and an assault rifle mixed with lifting, throwing, and using singularity on anything that wasn't nailed down couldn't fix...

...also toxic bullets. Goo piles everywhere. Sometimes I'd mix it up and use Tali instead of Ashley when there were going to be a lot of Geth around. Hacking them was fun.

I actually liked the Mako at first. It wasn't until my second playthrough that I started to develop a hatred for the thing.

The Mako was fkin ridiculous. The physics engine was appalling. Specially when I discovered you could climb mountains at an 80 degree angle.

My entire first playthrough I didn't realize the Mako had rockets or whatever they were for a main attack weapon..

I'd been relying on machine guns and ramming speed

Second time I played it had been awhile so was glancing through the manual and was like "whhaaat? there is rockets?!"
    LOL at me..

(Second playthrough was significantly easier )

You can ram stuff with it?

It's not a specific attack or anything.

Just running things over was pretty effective.

Still the same on my second playthrough. It handles like a bag of cats with a gun and rocket boosters attached to it.

Sony claims they fixed their 2010 = leap year error in the PS3s. Anyone with a fatty attempt to log in yet?

    I've got a slim sorry.

Tested it late last night, it booted up fine, had a small hiccup with it failing to find the wireless network at first, but all seems to be ok now. The whole 2 trophies I earned so far are still there.

    What trophies did you get?

Hell if I know, I'll have to check when I get home. Brent actually got them under my name on Terminator Salvation. Freaking kid claims to have beat the game in 2 days only playing after school before I get home.

PSN ID is Om1nousG if you're able to look them up like you can Xbox achievements.

Don't know what I was seeing last night, must have been really tired...
Got 9 Gold trophies in Terminator. Seems Brent did beat the game on easy.

    Huh.

    That's weird.
81% game trophy progress but only 9 trophies and all of them are gold?
Terminator Salvation must have a strange trophy list, usually only 3 or 4 golds per game and you'll get multiple bronzes or silvers before getting them.

    Weird.

EDIT: Looked it up, only has 12 trophies, 11 gold and 1 platinum...that's unusual.

Yeah I remember someone saying that Terminator Salvation was one of those games you play to try and increase your trophy scores.

From the sound of their press release, it was a simply a matter of it becoming March 2 for the affected PS3s to right themselves.

That was what did it for me too. I keep hearing that mining planets in the sequel sucks, but it can't be much worse than trying to drive on the planets with the Mako instead, thanks to said physics engine.

Judging by the reviews, that would be the only reason to play it..

  18. #198
Brent enjoyed it the first time through, he talked about some sort of giant walking robot a lot. But he hasn't picked it up since his first run through, so I'm assuming it doesn't have any real replay value. But for $7.48 from Target clearance, not a huge concern.

I haven't loaded it up yet. Still inching my way through Guildwars, I thought that presearing distances were rough, the map simply went insane postsearing.

Haha, indeed. It's definitely pretty low on my list.

Yeah, that's a low-enough price to excuse most faults with a game.

The key is teamwork; try to find a good group if you can. The game can be very hard though, I agree. Also, if you aren't already, paying a lot of attention to your skills pays off too in the long run. You can of course switch them freely in towns and outposts, but try to see how your different skills can play off and complement each other, not to mention those belonging to your teammates.

And, throwing this in here real quick: Be patient, think tactically (within the rules of the game, anyway), watch the patrol patterns of roaming mobs, and pay attention to and learn the secrets of aggro'ing monsters.

A guild, or clan is out of the question. I don't have that kind of free time, I'll get 30 minutes here, a few minutes there. An hour when the baby sleeps if I'm lucky.
Most of my skills are binded to my Speedpad n50, I think I have a good grip on the order they need cast in, how they best help each other so far, but my skill table is still extremely empty at the moment. Level 10, and I've only completed a handful of quests in post searing so far.

I don't have to much trouble with the baddies, the game even gives you free mercs to help in a spot. The problem so far is the distance I have to travel to complete some of the quests. I spend most of my time walking, not fighting.

Gotcha. I agree, if you don't have a lot of time, they can really hurt. Thank God for the tele system, otherwise the game would be too much.

The launch trailer for Fragile is here.

This game needs more hype, I've never seen anything like it.

    Metro 2033 looks pretty interesting.

They got some brass balls releasing the same day as God of War 3, hope it doesn't hurt them as the game looks cool.

Had to go back and play Portal again because of the new updates Valve is doing which seem to be pointing towards Portal 2 / Half Life 2 Episode 3.

Heee, finding these radios is fun :3 I've managed to destroy each one I've found so far with an emancipation grid as well, that sound they make is creepy.
Hate. Let me tell you how much I've come to hate you since I began to live. There are 387.44 million miles of wafer thin printed circuits that fill my complex. If the word hate was engraved on each nanoangstrom of those hundreds of millions of miles it would not equal one one-billionth of the hate I feel for humans at this micro-instant.
    For you.

I haven't played anything for a while - I can't seem to get interested in anything at the moment.

Anyone care to recommend a relatively inexpensive PC game worth playing?

If you like a good Diablo-Clone, Torchlight would be worth a shot. Plants vs. Zombies, Braid, Psychonauts, Beyond Good and Evil are all to be had for less than 10€ at Steam.
