Default Anyone watching the VP debate?

Mike Pence talks a lot better game than Trump.

According to Direct TV stats, the VP debates rank behind Major League Baseball (both in the East and National markets).

If no one's listening.....how does it matter?

Eh probably doesn't, VP debates typically doesn't change things. However this board follows politics far more closely than the average American.

I think my reaction was all confirmation bias - Pence is a monster, Kaine is the dad everyone wishes they had.
We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe.

    Probably.

Overall: Pence came across better as a potential president. He compares positively to Kaine in demeanor, authenticity and success as a governor. However he really didn't defend much of what Trump said. His line about "Trump not being a polished politician" should have been rolled out earlier. When Kaine listed the litany of insults that Trump used Pence should have said, "I don't have the time to clarify and respond to every one of those but let's take one and give you the full story..." (Mexican rapist, AA hell, both of which can be explained in a non-offensive way very reasonably) After that just say that he wasn't going to waste the American people's time dealing with Tim/Hillary's desire to smear a hard working businessman and focus on how he would help Make America Great Again.

That didn't happen so he didn't do the Trump ticket any real favors here.

Authenticity? The guy lied about Trump's positions. Repeatedly. With no shame. That's authentic?

Oooh, this whole thing sounds too much like an episode of The Apprentice, or any other reality TV game show.

I think the whole thing was a farce, in a different way than the first Clinton/Trump debate. Both candidates essentially ignored every question (which were largely silly anyways since the VP has no power) in order to land some clearly prepared attacks, often circling back to the same attacks on multiple occasions. Most of the connections were weak in the extreme, and the attacks were generally canned and of little informational value to the voter.

The only thing I think Kaine managed to do a good job of was painting Pence as a reluctant supporter of some of Trump's more egregious stuff (and he's probably right, though Pence wouldn't admit it). And the only think Pence did well (at least the only attack that got any traction with me) was his trying to get Hillary to own some of the Obama administration's foreign policy failures. Both of these were relatively weak stuff, though. I should have spent more time watching the AL Wild Card game.

Ehh informational value to the voter? Really? Why would you think tuning into any of the debates would actually provide informational value to the voter? :0

The debates are a farce. But now we'll have to endure days and weeks of "the media" talking about the farce, pretending to be the News.

There's a reason polls show a lack of trust in politicians and news media. They can't be trusted to tell the truth.

This is hilarious (and entirely expected).

Oh please several of Timmy's attack lines were clearly out of context quotes. Pence for the most part didn't directly address much of what was said about Trump.

That is quite amusing and jives with my analysis pretty well.

Incidentally, when did US politics shift from it being acceptable to support dictators (in foreign policy) who like us to actually praising the dictatorial acts of said dictators?

"Stronger" is an adjective that neither endorses or condemns a person's policies. Moreover if you compare them to the person you dislike it is likely about the person you dislike and not the dictator.

I think most people agree that Putin is a shit head. However he does seem to get what he wants both domestically and lately internationally. (Georgia, Ukraine for example)

I dunno, but maybe it started in the 70's, when we decided who'd be the Shah of Iran, while giving support to the Saudi Kingdom.

You are using a newspaper that has officially endorsed Hillary Clinton as your barometer for who is telling the truth? Hilarious.

There's a link to PolitiFact and each claim being judged. This kind of disdain for facts is why Trump is your party's nominee.

not as hilarious as people believing that critical thinking begins and ends with looking at which newspaper reported an inconvenient fact.

Politifact is biased. The fact that it is a project run by a paper that endorses a political candidate should be all the information you need to know.

Didn't you listen to Newt at the Republican convention? Facts and statistics are liberal truths, but feelings are also truths! And feelings are better truths!

Why is GGT not planning to vote Republican this election again? She finally has a candidate and party who can really understand where she's coming from.
Last night as I lay in bed, looking up at the stars, I thought, “Where the hell is my ceiling?"
