The BoE is also actively trying to strip the pound of reserve currency status?

The iphone 7plus is €100,- cheaper in London than in Amsterdam.

That settles it. I couldn't decide between London or somewhere in Greece. London it is![]()
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
That's one way of looking at it. Another is that where a couple of months I would have gotten just the phone for my money, now for the same money I can get the phone and a plane ticket to London and back to pick it up. How does this thing about the collapse of your currency help your economy again?

At least someone is thinking through the consequences of brexit
My employer is already finding it harder to recruit from abroad (not just Europe). Several applicants have turned down offers, citing xenophobia within the UK. You could argue about whether or not the UK is a racist country, but it looks like more people perceive us that way. Applications from outside the UK are down on previous years.
I hope this is a short-term effect and we'll demonstrate that we aren't the foreigner-hating throw backs the Brexiteers paint us as.
There's a man goin' 'round, takin' names
And he decides who to free and who to blame
Part of the problem is that 52% of the Brits have voted in a way that was promoted and won with xenophobic arguments. Another part of the problem is that the 'remain' side sort of folded its defense of what is basically a good thing for European countries after roughly 1992. The remain reaction of choice against EU-hate was mostly validating that hate; reactions to the nonsense that was commonplace in the UK wasn't slamming that down, but saying that the EU should 'of course be reformed'. Thus re-inforcing the idea the the EU actually was hurting the national interest. The OUT vote didn't happen just because of a couple of months of campaigning.

Yes we all know where your rational skepticism led to.
In the meanwhile it seems like the UK is in for a surprise on the meaning of Brexit.
Congratulations America
To leaving the flawed institution that had shown itself incapable of reform? To becoming an independent self-governing nation like most other nations on the globe? To confounding the so-called "experts" who'd predicted an immediate downturn?
It's not led to even a single negative problem yet.
There's absolutely no reason for that to happen.
Yeeees, Rand, we already know that your views of reality have become so twisted that you can see your own arse without turning your head. Spare us this: "It's fine! Everything will be just fine!"
Plus, "self-governing" is a strange term, considering that you want to do trade. Which, by necessity, does somewhat restrict your ability to self-govern.
But, hey, have fun getting the worst of terms. Newsflash, Rand: In a globalized world, something like "independence" does not exist anymore. Unless you turn imperialist once again, conquer a few countries and then dictate your terms.

Ah the usual nonsense of the EU being 'deeply flawed' because you don't like some particular policy (which happens to be by the way exactly that policy at which the EU was eminently efficient). I have to assume now that if you don't like the way your furniture is arranged in your living room, your remedy of choice would be to tear down the entire house?
I have not seen a shred of evidence that your so-called independence actually exist. What does exist is the rest of the world throwing your attempts to talk with it independently right back in your face. Telling you that they won't talk to you untill they know what deal we (the EU) are willing to give you.
And for a small country like the UK trade indeed comes with the EU setting the rules, which we will set and change unilaterally. The big difference for you being that your opinions don't count at all. I for starters am totally in favor of banning the stuff you guys try to sell as chocolate from the EU markets.
Congratulations America
No one likes to be a foreigner in a xenophobic country, especially one whose currency is constantly depreciating, one where academic salaries weren't great to start with. The new teaching framework doesn't help either.

With the value of the pound dropping the way it does I think we should consider imposing visas on Brits who want to travel to the EU after Brexit
Congratulations America

Mitsubishi UFJ financial is moving it's Europe HQ from London to Amsterdam.
Oh and that Whetherspoon idiot who campaigned for Brexit is finding out that his political choices literally come at a price; he's running into trouble supplying his pubs at the prices he was hoping for. Or get contracts on the conditions he was used to.

I thought MUFG was just bolstering the Amsterdam office by relocating some employees. That's what they said two days ago anyway.
"One day, we shall die. All the other days, we shall live."
The way it's reported here it goes a bit further than just re-locating some employees. The EU-activities will come under the direction of the Amsterdam office. London will keep the Middle East and Africa for the time being.
It's good news for me by the way; bankers are in the target group to which I rent my Amsterdam appartment. More of them looking for housing in Amsterdam means higher income for me. Thanks for the extra money Brexit loons.
Congratulations America
You should have endorsed brexit

Actually, I have been pro-Brexit for a long time. Discussing the EU with Brits does that to you.
