Funny story but I actually think barter is pretty damn cool

Just like I could sell something for Turkish lira and then immediately exchange those lira for US dollars. Of course that would be a dumb and pointless move. Just like using Bitcoin, unless you're buying something illegal.
Hope is the denial of reality

Are you actually in favor of anything at all that weakens the theoretical power of the State over the economy? It wouldn't surprise me to learn that you are in favor of getting rid of all physically held currency (bills and coins) and require everything to be done electronically to generate a paper trail for big brother to check and see everything is in order.

The government doesn't have the resources to check most people's tax returns let alone to see how 300 million are spending their money. If you're that paranoid about the US, what's stopping you from using euros, Swiss francs, or British pounds?

I was asking you about your views. But since you asked - I'm not paranoid, hell I pay basically everything in USD via CC for the rewards. As to why I wouldn't want to use other currencies that would be obvious because most US merchants don't accept them and we get back to the original problem of those currencies are also inflationary assets. We've seen just this year why that's bad.

You mean, on some kind of immutable, publicly accessible ledger containing a record of every transaction ever performed, with only a 32 character string between you and having your entire financial history unravelled to whoever? Sounds bad.
The light that once I thought compassion still casting shadows in your action
The words you shared were cold transactions that bring me to curse what you've done
When you're up there absorbed in greatness with such success you've grown complacent
I hope you scorch your many faces when you fly too close to the sun

No one is saying you have to use bitcoin - all bitcoiners ask is that the state not get in the way. Most in the crypto space believe a stateless currency is inevitable assuming government doesn't intervene.

The euro is over ₺14 again. The government claims that billions have been deposited into guaranteed acounts now. The combination of those two means that the treasury already is on the hook for the first millions of many more to come. Stay tuned for more fun.
    Congratulations America

    Very much yes!

This is what I keep saying to people when this comes up, and it's amazing how people have no idea what this is. And how inflation becoming more widely "recognized" they say, "well maybe it's good that it's deflationary."

Sorry Hazir, your thread is for Crypto stuff now.

    https://www.motherjones.com/politics...yn-fjb-crypto/

Last month, Steve Bannon, the former Trump campaign manager and White House strategist, announced his participation in a new venture: a cryptocurrency marketed to Joe Biden haters and Donald Trump devotees. He and Boris Epshteyn, another ex-Trump adviser, boasted that they had taken a “strategic ownership position” in a crypto coin called $FJB. That stands for Fuck Joe Biden.
On his podcast, Bannon began talking up the coin, of which they both had acquired significant amounts, as a “currency for the MAGA movement.” During one episode, Epshteyn hailed the $FJB coin as a tool to help Trump fanatics “let your feelings, your primal disapproval, your primal disgust with Biden be heard.” But $FJB buyers might want to beware. Not only does every purchase bolster the value of Bannon’s and Epshteyn’s holdings, crypto experts say the currency is designed in a way that affords its operators an unusual amount of discretion in blocking owners of coins from selling their tokens—a power that could cause problems for investors.

    [...]

De la Rouviere points out that this restriction doesn’t apply to the operators of $FJB. “They can transfer as much as they want, whenever,” he says. De la Rouviere outlines a possible scenario: If $FJB’s price started to drop, the coin’s operators could freeze some token holders from selling to prevent a further spiral, while the operators remain free to sell off their own coins. By the time locked investors regained access, their tokens could be worth much less.
I do not endorse this, actually. I am shocked and appalled that this could happen, in crypto, to the magas, by Steven Bannon. No one deserves to have their deeply held beliefs taken advantage of like this.

Referencing the BTC production cost indicator from Charles Edwards, CEO of asset manager Capriole, venturefounder revealed that the breakeven point currently stands at $34,000.

Holy fuck, I never realized miners were running quite that close to the wind. Thought break even was somewhere between $10 and 20k.

This is absolutely the tech to use to provide financial services to over 7 billion people.
