Looks like shoes that would come with a gorilla costume...

I finished my NewsBank conference training. Seems we have more than doubled our investment into this thing, and its finally getting some useful features for our county.

All went well last night in them, no problems what so ever. I got a few weird comments, a few people liked them and a few people are not to sure on them. Never stubbed my toe or twist my ankle, they were extremely comfortable as well.

I could have had class. I could have been a contender.

Humble Indie Gamer Pack gets a little sweeter, yet again. Now they have a goal. $1 million raised nets the community the source code for Gish, Penumbra Overture and Lugaru

    Hey, I actually did donate.

I disagree about The World of Goo being far more high quality than you'd find on a website. Haven't tried any of the others yet.

It does, however, entertain my son a lot, so I don't feel I wasted my money (and I actually did make a proper donation, not just a $1 throw-off or anything).

I'm going to be competing in the Pokémon Championship in Atlanta.
Finally, my obsessive playing of video games may come in handy!
    I enjoy blank walls.

  12. #792
Heh, how exactly do you compete? Just have a pokemon battle against someone else with pokemon you already have?

Seems kind of dumb to me. It just rewards the person who never does anything but play video games.

Ought to be starting new games, have 1 hour to prepare, then battle. Or something.

Its not really about time spent training. At least not since Pokemon Yellow. There were competitions that had level caps, or evolution caps, so the "most wasted hours" didn't really exist.
Pokemon is some complex shit, its not about simply leveling up, your pokemon change based on what pokemon you battle in the game, and then there is the breeding thing that allows you to throw in those screwball moves that no one expects.

To complete in something like this take brains, and not nearly the lvl 99 commitment of "thats all he has done for the past week" like you think
I know for at least some of the games, the final battle involved lvl 90+ pokemon, so its not like the competition is going to require much more than that.

Heh, I don't know. My son consistently beats my daughter when they battle, but damned if I know why. Don't actually care, either.

At any rate, I really don't see any reason to drive him to compete in something like this, anyway. Pokemon obsession is not something I want to encourage.

The grand prize is a trip to Indianapolis to compete in the national tournament.
Is that a good enough reason? :P

Yes, I totally want to go to Indianapolis.

They should have the national tournament somewhere fun. Like Hawaii. Or San Francisco. That would be fun.

I'm lucky. Since I'm a teen, I fall into the senior bracket, and they have sign in during the afternoon.

A genius with a Fatwa on his head.

Looks like good British comedy and all... I just wouldn't want to be standing next to the guy in a crowded room for a while after the movie's release.

Chris Morris does like to court controversy.

He did a spoof of paedophiles a couple of years back which caused a huge shit storm.

    Paedogeddon!

Families of 7/7 victims are already calling for Four Lions to be banned/boycotted. Nothing like a bit of free publicity.

We did it! The Humble Indie Gamer pack reached and exceeded $1 million in donations/purchases.

"At the end, people really, really wanted to support the bundle and push it to make the million dollar milestone—we started seeing donations as large as $3333.33 and $1337.00 come in at the last few hours," Rosen explained. "Reddit completely lit up: I would estimate redditors to be the single largest benefactor, by far."
123,182 people paid a total of $1,126,563! That averages out to a little over $9 per person.

    So what
In the future, the Berlin wall will be a mile high, and made of steel. You too will be made to crawl, to lick children's blood from jackboots. There will be no creativity, only productivity. Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. The Earth will be covered with steel and concrete. There will be an electronic policeman in every head. Your children will be born in chains, live only to serve, and die in anguish and ignorance.
The universe we observe has precisely the properties we should expect if there is, at bottom, no design, no purpose, no evil, no good, nothing but blind, pitiless indifference.
