Thread: What game are you playing now?

I want to finish the game 100%, so I paused the main story at the point right before salvaging the IFF beacon (or whatever it's called).

And I've come to appreciate the controls. They're much more convenient than in ME1.
First off, that game looks awesome and ridiculously trippy. I seriously believe it would send my father into a fatal seizure.

Secondly, unless you're talking about the downloadable character Zaeed--like evenstar mentioned--you won't get that last squad member until the IFF level, and even after that depending on paragon/renegade choices you still may not. Also, if you truly want 100% you're going to have to find all the anomalies on planets for side missions, which requires some hefty exploration (I should know)...good luck!

Yesterday I started to have problems with my 360. I was playing ME2 and all of a sudden in the middle of a level these gridlines appeared on my screen. It seems like they're overlapping a lot of the textures in the game, but they can be straight across the screen as well. What's more, the game adopted a reddish tint with a bit of purple. I played a different game, and only the scanlines returned. Even stranger, they disappear on loading screens. I took out my video plug (not HDMI) and blew on it and the port and rubbed both with a tissue. Someone told me to use alcohol, of which I am weary. Any clue what I should do?

    Sounds like an overheating problem.

You can try wiping the contacts down with alcohol, but make sure you let them dry.

She had nothing to do with Space Quest, that was by the Two Guys From Andromeda, and isn't King's Quest 5 one of the most cited examples of why adventure gaming died? That and the other King's Quest games, that is.

Instead of love there will be fear and distrust, instead of surrender there will be submission. Contact will be replaced with isolation, and joy with shame. Hope will cease to exist as a concept. I know not many people know Evil Genius, so this will be rubbish to many.

But I was trying to make a trap on Island 2 which would be as lucrative as possible and I created a monster. I had to switch it off, clean it up and build in a flamethrower killswitch to prevent it overflowing my vault. In all my other traps I always used as many turns as possible because those gain money. But since a windtrap only blows agents 8 squares, I made a 9 square ... square so they never hit the wall. I lined it with smart attacking bees so the agents wouldn't escape. The result was that I had about 20 agents all spinning around merely for eternity raking in cash for too quickly. I went from 400.000 to 2.something million in about 1 minute.

    Anyway, here it is.

As you can see, I still need to install double doors to prevent social minions getting in and try to escort the disabled agents out.

Now ... to how many people here did this make sense?

To me! I liked that game, maybe I should re install it. Didn't know (or forgot, anyway), that you could get money for trapping agents.

Yep. Didn't like babysitting my agents stealing money, hiding them, replacing them. As I remember the first trap combo gains 100, second 200, 300, 400 and genius makes 500. You have a combo when two windtraps both affect the agent and he changes course, or when a tesla coil hits an agent when he flies past.

Pity that making this trap kinda finished trap making for me. I'm now working on a prison system that will keep the super-agents locked up indefinitely. Got a couple of ideas, of which one spectacularly backfired and caused that bruce lee type to get into the heart of my base and demolish all my generators. That's when I remembered you musn't forget to have fire extinguishers.

Hehe. I once tried locking them up in a room without an exit.. but then they dug a hole in the floor. IIRC having a lot of sentry guns to simply shoot them once they got out works wonders, too. I didn't know about the money, so I just had a shitload of sentry guns outside too to take care of everything.

E 74, sent it in for repair a couple days ago (under warranty--thank God!). Gonna have to get back to Sims 2, Simcity 300 and Photoshop for the 3 weeks until I get it back...

Trying a bit of EVE at the moment. Flying Level2-missions at the moment where they sometimes spring really ugly suprises at you.

For instance, this one mission where I was to scout a certain area and the mission briefing stated: "You do not need to kill all pirates to complete this mission." I should have know that this translated to: "Don't even think about killing all pirates".

I mean, I approached the warp gate with my shiny new Cruiser, warped in and was greeted by three Frigates (one size below Cruiser). Exploded two of those with my trusty drones, two more Frigates and a Battlecruiser (one size above a Cruiser) warped in. Managed to explode those as well and then decided to call it a day when I looked at my sensor contact list and noticed that 8 more Battlecruisers were approaching...

... and that was in Hi-Sec. The next mission exploded my Cruiser, by the way.

Did a short stint in Lo-Sec - but decided to return from there after being shot at while disembarking from a station, escaping three gate campers (which luckily enough were on the wrong side) and generally seeing too many unsavory characters for my two-weeks old character.

And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?

EVE as in online? And you're doing missions?

Started up X3: Terran Conflict again, the truly epic space trader game.

Game is so vast and complex that it takes at least 4 or 5 hours play to get back into it, remember where your space hubs and ships are, ship and station commands, communications etc.

Then you have to remember all the excel spreadsheets, search engine websites, wares and resource locater websites, sector and universe maps, station building guides, universe economics guides.

Fun though. Everything works well once you get the hang of it.

Actually, no. One of the easiest way to earn money (unless you fuck up the mission itself, that is). Solo Mining is boring, ratting is not efficient enough, can't do Exploration yet (have to bring Astronometrics up to Level 4 first), I'm probably doing Planetary Interactions wrong, since it doesn't earn me any money and Trading probably would excite Loki, not me.

Thus mission running. Pretty big part of the game (they even created Epic Arc missions) with several skills aimed explicitly at the standing for missions, so, no, I don't think i'm doing it "wrong".

Guildwars, it took me like a freaking week, but I finished both the mission and the bonus for Dunes of Despair. Without a doubt the hardest part of the game to solo. Timer gave me 10 minutes, and I finished with 2 seconds to spare.

EVE is one of the biggest griefing arenas online, and you're a griefee, not a griefer

    Sooo

Not yet You have to have a decent skillset before you can really engage in PvP.

Ratting is more efficient once you can handle it; you can easily do 10-20m every couple minutes in nullsec. Missioning is probably the best 'safe' way to earn money though (still have to pay attention once you start level 4s). Nessus is right, griefing is the main focus of the game, so I hope you enjoy that side of things.

Well, I want to do Exploration for a while - and for everything else there are corps which will take me if I want to go into mild PvP

And I'm not sure that you can call it "griefing" since a griefer tries to rob someone else of the joy to play while skimming closely to the rules. Since CCP explicitly states that anything goes, griefing ain't the proper word.

Some of the goon stories about EVE griefing are better than the old UO stuff

Ninja salvaging in Hi-Sec sounds fun, too

Though that still requires Astronometrics (2 more days)

I've been thinking of making another trial account for EVE. Last time I was in there was four years ago. So pretty. And it's not like there's really been a good PC space sim released in forever, at least not one providing enough content for the cost.
